Woburn Abbey.
After breakfast, a full day visit to Woburn Abbey. The Abbey has been the home of the Russell Family for nearly 400 years. Today it is occupied by the 15th Duke and his family. Nestling in the grounds is a splendid group of early farm buildings, dating back to 1780 and now home to the Estates Office and the Bloomsbury Stud. Nearby is the old Dairy, completed in 1900 and a graceful addition to the landscape. Surrounding the Abbey, the Farm buildings and the Dairy, you'll find, in 3000 peaceful acres, deer roaming free and many rare and specimen trees. The Abbey Gardens - For the first time, groups may pre-book a tour of the Woburn Abbey Gardens with one of the Abbey's gardening experts. Find out about the plants, trees and the inspiration of Humphry Repton and other designers that helped create it. Find out too about the plans to recreate part of Repton's original Pleasure Grounds in the future. Time for Tea! Woburn Abbey, where the tradition of Afternoon Tea began, enjoy a fabulous Afternoon Tea either at the Inn at Woburn, the estate's hotel in the heart of Woburn village or the Duchess Tearoom at Woburn Abbey. The very English tradition is said to have been started about 1840 by Duchess Anna Maria, wife of the 7th Duke, who entertained her friends in the Blue Drawing Room at Woburn Abbey.
