Going Up, Down South and to the West End!

7th December 2016
Sales and UK Departments

Gina, our roving Sales Manager, headed down South recently where she attended the Annual Christmas Dinner hosted by the Coach Tourism Association at the Langstone Hotel on Hayling Island. A fam trip to the Victorian Christmas Market at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and the Emirates Spinnaker Tower with afternoon tea, was included. There was plenty to see and do at the Dockyard but because of the Christmas festivities and the crowds, there was not enough time to see all of the exhibits due to the queues – therefore a return visit will be in order in the future. The views from the top of the Spinnaker tower were amazing and the afternoon tea was delightful!

Joining Gina, from Greatdays, for the Christmas Dinner were Mark (UK Manager) and Katharine (Assistant UK Product Manager) where they all got the opportunity to network with clients and suppliers during the evening.

For the next couple of days Gina, Mark and Katharine visited several hotels along the coast including Worthing, Brighton and Eastbourne. Whilst in Brighton, Gina and Katharine had the opportunity to take a flight on the new British Airways i360 observation tower which only opened in the summer of 2016. Ascending to 162 metres, the views of Brighton at sunset and along the coast were stunning, We were free to walk around the pod to take in the different views during the 20 minute flight. There was also a bar in the pod to purchase drinks.

Whilst Gina remained in Eastbourne to explore what this seaside town has to offer and Mark made his way back to the office, Katharine headed off to the bright lights of London’s West End to watch THE LION KING at the Lyceum Theatre, hosted by ticketing company Encore and Disney. Before the show she learned some fascinating facts about the show, such as, THE LION KING was recently named the most successful piece of entertainment…ever! Grossing more than the likes of Titanic and Avatar. After watching the show she can see why! It was phenomenal – funny, moving and extremely entertaining – it really does have something for everyone to enjoy. After the show she was incredibly lucky to have a backstage tour where she learned a brief history of the Lyceum Theatre (Bram Stoker was the manager when he wrote Dracula), and were able to hold some of the 232 hand-crafted puppets and bespoke hand-sewn costumes used in the show.

All in all, a very informative trip which will hopefully inspire new itineraries – watch this space!
