Tissington Hall
A visit to Tissington is a true delight. The 16th century hall and the village that surrounds it are still owned by Sir Richard and Lady Fitzherbert and have remained charmingly unspoilt over the centuries. Tours are by private arrangement only, as the Hall is only open to the public on certain days in the year.
(There are stairs to the first floor and no lift access. Please note some of the floors are uneven in this historical building.)
A Jacobean village
Time now to explore the quaint village of Tissington. The village is still owned by Sir Richard. When you have seen all there is to offer, the modern tea rooms offer welcome refreshments before your journey home. In addition to the Jacobean Hall, Tissington boasts another attraction. Every year, Derbyshire holds ‘Well Dressing’ festivals. The residents of local villages dress the wells with
flowers to create elaborate floral tableaux. This draws visitors from far and wide. Tissington is particularly popular and at this time of year the village is busy and vibrant.
Please note, during the Well Dressing season only, there will be a £10 parking fee for coaches. At this busy time, tours are subject to availability.
Well Dressing dates for 2021 are 13-19th May. Please enquire for details.
