Away to the Wild Boar Fell
Enjoy the finest of two counties in one day with this delightful day trip. You will spend your morning in Kirkby Lonsdale, where you can enjoy morning tea in one of the many cafes or browse the shops. Make sure you take in the view from behind St. Mary’s Church, which inspired both Turner and Ruskin.
Kirkby Lonsdale
The historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, which lies on the River Lune, stands on the fringes of the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Ruskin’s View across the river bank, can be viewed from just through the town’s churchyard and its breathtakingly beautiful, ‘One of the loveliest scenes in England – therefore in the world’. Then there’s The Devils Bridge, The Market Square, the Norman Church of St Mary, quaint cottages, ivy-clad Georgian buildings and a wealth of gift shops.

Cumbria Dales Tour: The Upper Eden
The Eden Valley and surrounding fells are some of the most beautiful parts of Cumbria. Drovers brought livestock for sale to the area and packhorse routes carried goods across the Pennines and down the Eden Valley. Today they have left a rich legacy of public footpaths, bridleways and quiet lanes. It is here that the last wild boar in England was killed.
Hawes Creamery: Home of Wensleydale Cheese
Hawes is Yorkshire’s highest market town and farming community and lies in the path of the Pennine Way. Not only is it famous for its chocolate-box picture postcard appeal, but also as the home of some of the most delicious cheeses to be made in Britain.
