Bustling cities, beautiful countryside and a fabulous river experience: on this cruise you’ll visit the most unmissable destinations along the Danube. Spend an evening and full day in magical Vienna, visit the charming Biedermeier city of Baden and marvel at the Baroque majesty of historic Melk Abbey. From the UNESCO World Heritage valley of Wachau, to the Hungarian capital Budapest, join us on a journey full of cultural highlights and stunning landscapes.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1

Passau

Fly from the UK to Munich and transfer  to Passau to board vessel.

Day 2

Ybbs/Vienna

Perhaps spend the morning visiting the impressive Basilica of Maria Taferl, one of the most significant places of pilgrimage in Lower Austria – or the imposing hydroelectric power station of Ybbs-Persenbeug.

Spend the afternoon cruising through the Danube valley of Wachau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 3

Vienna

Enjoy the walking city tour of Vienna and visiting sights including St Stephen’s Cathedral and the Imperial Palace of Hofburg, with time to explore at leisure.

Day 4

Budapest

Experience Budapest from a different perspective and enjoy the very special atmosphere of this remarkable city during a walking tour along its most famous street, Váci utca, which is also the oldest trade route of Budapest. During this relaxed tour you will be able to learn more about the history of Hungary’s famous Pyramid Cake and of course enjoy a taste! After passing Kálvin square, the National Museum and Festetics Palace, you will also visit a blacksmith, to see this living tradition in action

Day 5

Budapest

Why not enjoy some free time to experience the city and take in the atmosphere in your own time.

Day 6

Bratislava

The beautifully restored Old Town of Bratislava has some wonderful baroque buildings to discover, such as the Redoute, the National Theatre, the Town Hall, alongside palaces dating from the city’s Imperial and Royal era, a period known locally as the k. u. k. (kaiserlich und königlich).  Before entering the city we will enjoy a scenic drive to the most iconic landmarks in the Slovakian capital, the Castle, or Hrad, which has some wonderful views across the city.

Day 7

Melk

For more than a thousand years the Abbey of Melk has been the spiritual and cultural centre of Austria, towering above its namesake city on the banks of the River Danube. During a guided tour of the abbey you will have plenty of opportunity to gain more insight into this impressive building. Time will then be available for you to explore at leisure, before your return to the ship.

Day 8

Passau

Disembark the ship and transfer to Munich airport for your return journey home.

All prices are per person based on sharing a 2 berth cabin and with coach driver's free place in a single cabin both are based on a minimum 25 full fare paying passengers.
