Travel to your hotel
Depending on time and where you are travelling from why not stop off on the journey and make your day more interesting. Speak to a member of the Greatdays team who will be happy to offer suggestions. On arrival at your hotel late afternoon you will have ample time to settle in before enjoying dinner.
Dorset Coast Cruise and Bournemouth
This morning we enjoy a relaxing boat cruise from Poole. Depending on the time of year the cruise will either cover the harbour and islands, or explore further down the Jurassic Coast in the summer months. Returning to Bournemouth, there’s free time to explore the town, including the pier, the gardens and the seven miles of sandy beaches.
If your tour is running in January – March then your cruise will include a glass of mulled wine/ hot drink and a mince pie.
Scenic Drive through the New Forest
Today we take a scenic drive through the New Forest, famous for its unspoiled woods and marshlands, where wildlife such as horses and cows can be seen wandering freely. We call into the historic town of Lymington, a colourful ancient seaport with a rich maritime history. Next we head to the ‘capital’ of the New Forest, Lyndhurst. Towering over the skyline is the pre-Raphaelite church of St Michael and All Angels where the grave of former Lyndhurst resident Alice Liddel, Lewis Carroll’s inspiration for Alice in Wonderland, can be found.
Steam train ride to Corfe Castle and Swanage
Today we travel to the Isle of Purbeck to join our steam-hauled train for a ride on the Swanage Railway. The seaside resort of Swanage is a popular holiday destination, retaining much of its original character. There’s also time to visit the delightful village of Corfe and its famous castle. Returning to Bournemouth we stop in Wareham, a picturesque market town where you can walk the Saxon walls and see the historic quay.
If your tour is operating in January – March then unfortunately the railway is not open. We can suggest day excursions to Portsmouth, Gosport or Salisbury upon request – supplements may apply.
Saying farewell to your hosts this morning start your homeward journey with various comfort stops enroute.
