A Traditional Fairytale Christmas at Tatton 2019
A Fairy tale Christmas at Tatton.
This year Tatton Park will be celebrating a Fairy tale Christmas. See the Mansion bring to life the magic of fairy tales steeped in folklore.
Visit the Christmas Mansion.
The Mansion dates from the 18th century and the Christmas trees are sourced mainly from the Parkland and Gardens. Different generations of the Egerton family have gathered an interesting collection of art and antiques showcased in the staterooms, which are also the setting for the beautiful Christmas displays.
Create a traditional pomander to take home
Your Group will learn how to make their own Pomander, a traditional Christmas gift made popular in the 18th century. ” A pomander, from French pomme d’ambre, i.e., apple of amber, is a ball made for perfumes, such as ambergris, musk, or civet. The pomander was worn or carried in a vase, also known by the same name, as a protection against infection in times of pestilence or merely as a useful article to modify bad smells” Costumed guides will carry out a 10 minute demonstration to each group and then support visitors making their own Pomander to take home.
A Festive Afternoon Tea
Relax in the elegant surrounds of the neo-classical Mansion as you tuck into a fabulous festive afternoon tea. After tea, there will be time to experience the award winning gardens and stunning fernery against the dramatic backdrop of the winter sky
