This remarkable building houses a museum that takes you through 2000 years of some of the most important events in British history. The collection has “designated status” based on its quality and significance. Continue with a visit to Hollytrees Museum, next door to Colchester Castle. It is reputed to be haunted by Anne Lisle, also known as the White Lady, whose ghost can often be heard running past the Gun Room.

Lunch at the Red Lion Hotel, Colchester

Just a few minutes walk from the castle is the Red Lion Hotel, reputedly one of the most haunted hotels in England. Enjoy a two-course lunch with tea and coffee in the restaurant. Watch out for the resident ghost Alice who likes to roam the building!
