Includes timed entrance to the State Rooms of Buckingham Palace

On one of our Buckingham Palace Tours for Groups, you will experience one of the most luxurious palaces in the world.

Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of the UK’s sovereigns since 1837. Today it is the administrative headquarters of the Monarch. Although in use for the many official events and receptions held by The King, the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every summer during August and September.
Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms; these include 19 State Rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. In measurements, the building is 108 metres across, 120 metres deep (including the central quadrangle) and 24 metres high.

Above all, when visiting Buckingham Palace tours, see the 19 magnificent State Rooms. These rooms provide the setting for special occasions and official entertaining.

Today, Buckingham Palace is very much a working building and the centrepiece of the UK’s constitutional monarchy, serving as the venue for many royal events and ceremonies from entertaining foreign Heads of States to celebrating achievement at Investitures and receptions.

More than 50,000 people visit the Palace each year as guests to State Banquets, lunches, dinners, receptions and Garden Parties. His Majesty also holds weekly audiences with the Prime Minister and receives newly-appointed foreign Ambassadors at Buckingham Palace.

Monopoly ! – Shake the dice and see the sights on this tour that won’t break the bank! During this virtual ‘Monopoly’ game your guided coach tour will take you around some of London’s most iconic streets from Whitehall to Piccadilly. We will land on The Bank of England Museum, where you can learn about 300 years of England’s financial history. After a short walking tour of Covent Garden we will conclude our game at The London Eye, where you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views across London. On this tour everyone is a winner.

History of Monopoly

The history of Monopoly can be traced back to 1903,when American anti-monopolist Lizzie Magie created a game called The Landlord’s Game that she hoped would explain the single-tax theory of Henry George as laid out in his book Progress and Poverty. She devised the key features of the game. It was intended as an educational tool to illustrate the negative aspects of concentrating land in private monopolies. She took out a patent in 1904. This shows the game’s characteristic features of a square circuit consisting of corner squares (one the starting point) and a series of intervening spaces where players went round and round until the game’s goal was reached. The railway stations were hazards, demanding a $5 fine. Players received money after completing each circuit. This design was different from other board games of the time. It is possible, but not definitely known, that she was inspired by a game called Zohn Ahl, played by the Kiowa which had a similar shaped board but different rules, and was described in a book about games in 1898.Her game was self-published beginning in 1906.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas at Winter Wonderland!

Get that Christmassy feeling with our tour visiting Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, London. Christmas Markets are spread throughout the Capital, including markets beside the Thames by City Hall and stretching from the Millennium Bridge to Waterloo Bridge. But the main event is truly at Hyde Park. The Winter Wonderland boasts around 50 German style wooden chalets and amusements. Including ice skating, a funfair packed with a carousel and large scale rides and plenty of food and drink outlets, there is something for everybody. The Winter Wonderland is normally open from the middle of November to the start of January and it’s free to enter, though individual amusements may charge.

Wonderland is a popular attraction in the heart of London, so the afternoon and early evening are the best times to visit. Entrance is close to Marble Arch underground station or Park Lane.

There is the opportunity to combine this with some pre-Christmas shopping on Oxford Street and don’t forget the Christmas lights of London. Take a moment to wander along Oxford Street or Regent Street for the best views gazing up at the lights above head – just watch out for the quick-moving locals.

On this 2-day Antiques and Gardens tour we may collect a bargain or two and if we choose wisely, we may find out the value of our wares is higher than our original investment. So whether you are a budding antique dealer or an enthusiastic buyer who is risk averse, this is the short break for you.

Dagfields Craft and Antiques Centre is the first stop off on our way to the hotel. It has seven large emporiums displaying the antiques, homeware, ornaments (and more) of over 300 dealers. This establishment truly is a paradise for every antique collector. There is so much choice that we may need a few hours selecting our treasure and finding the best value trinket. Any bargains you may pick up will be valued after dinner by David Harper or Kate Bliss as seen on TV in programmes such as FLOG IT! and Bargain Hunt. Expert tips and advice on buying and selling antiques will be part of the after-dinner talks. *Experts are subject to change beyond our control.

Bridgemere Gardens is our destination the second day of this trip, founded 40 years ago by John Ravenscroft. Six acres of Cheshire countryside is dedicated to the Bridgemere show gardens, an RHS partner, where you can view gold and silver award winning gardens. On the same site, the garden centre sells over 3000 plant varieties that can inspire any gardener! There is a shopping village, Parlour Restaurant and Origins Patisserie with dedicated pastry chefs that create sweet treats.

Just as the summer begins to draw to a close, the charming Dutch village of Zundert hosts a phenomenal flower festival. See the town bedecked in dahlia flowers and filled with entertainment. Also discover historic Antwerp or vibrant Rotterdam.

Just as the summer begins to fade, the charming Dutch village of Zundert, near the Belgian border, hosts a phenomenal festival of dahlia flowers. On the first Sunday of September every year, the annual Zundert Flower Parade has the town decked in dahlias which attracts tens of thousands of visitors. Furthermore, it has become one of the Netherlands’ most beautiful parades. The impressive structures built from flowers have been turning heads since 1936 and is a must-see for fans of flowers, art or the downright bizarre!

Millions of locally-grown dahlias go into making the floats for the annual Zundert Flower Parade. Easily one of Europe’s most magnificent spectacles. Furthermore, the extravaganza requires hundreds of hours’ volunteering. The Bloemencorso has seen local communities compete in the Dutch village of Zundert for over 70 years. As the floats have grown from dahlia-adorned bikes and carts to colossal floral dioramas, so too has the crowd grown. Every year this Dutch village buzzes with thousands of visitors, drawn by beautiful and surreal floats. Entertainers add to the lively atmosphere, while local markets offer many browsing opportunities..
