Think of a glittering array of twinkling lights in trees, outdoor ice rinks with beautifully illuminated buildings as the backdrop, packed with markets and the aroma of Mulled wine – It’s easy to fall under the Yorkshire Christmas spell. Yorkshire is as well known for welcoming guests with open arms and a nice cup of tea. The county is also renowned for rugged landscapes, Georgian architecture, famous authors and delicious food. Experience an authentic Yorkshire Christmas welcome at our Harrogate hotel, including a mulled wine reception on arrival, with live entertainment to follow. Staying at the Cairn Hotel in Harrogate, you have two of Yorkshire’s best Christmas Markets nearby; Leeds and York* .

York Christmas Markets

The annual Christmas fayre in York, known locally as the St Nicholas Festival, is set in the historic square and has been established since medieval times. The city of York truly comes alive with Victorian costumed traders, carol singers and delicious smells of  roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate laced with brandy.

Leeds Christmas Markets

Over 40 traders annually travel from Frankfurt to set up the amazing stalls at one of the UK’s most established German Markets. Explore the stalls with unique gifts, hand-crafted jewellery, toys and traditional German delicacies including Stolen, Bratwurst, gingerbread and Glutwein are just to name a few for you to try.

Day 1

Travel to Yorkshire

Upon arrival at the Cairn Hotel, Harrogate, enjoy a pre-dinner mulled wine drinks reception. Live entertainment will follow into the evening.

Day 2

Free day in Leeds

After a hearty Yorkshire breakfast, take your group to Leeds to experience the festivities and markets. After your day shopping, return to the hotel where you will be will serve a 3 course carvery-style dinner and another evening of great entertainment.

Day 3

Free day in Harrogate

With so many local attractions only a short distance away, you could take your group around the sights of Yorkshire. Or, with the town of Harrogate with its boutique shops to and, your group could take themselves off for another day’s shopping. The choice is yours! However, be sure to have everyone back to the hotel in the afternoon to rest their feet and take stock of all the shopping, when they will be spoiled with a sumptuous ‘festive-themed’ Mini Afternoon Tea and a glass of Festive Fizz. Dinner will follow in the evening with live entertainment.

Day 4

Free day in York

Today we travel to York, an historic city surrounded by 13th-century walls. Make your way through the medieval web of narrow streets to the immense, awe-inspiring York Minster, surrounded by the amazing festive markets, enjoy the aroma of mulled wine and partake in the festivities. As well as this, don’t miss the remarkable Shambles, York’s most famous street, with overhanging timber-framed buildings, some dating back to the fourteenth century, and the ‘snickelways’ that lead off it. In the evening, enjoy dinner at the hotel followed by entertainment.

Cairn Hotel Harrogate ***

This charming hotel is situated in the Centre of Harrogate, 5 minutes walk up hill from the main shopping area. There is a great restaurant as well as lounge areas and a bar. The hotel has a lift accessing all 4 floors. The corridors have flat access, however, access to some of the public areas is by a couple of small steps, but ramps are also available at all stairways. There is free Wi-Fi available in the public areas, but chargeable in the bedrooms. The hotel offers entertainment on some nights of the week in its ballroom. All of the 135 bedrooms are en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower. They are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, flat-screen TV and hairdryer. Adapted rooms are available and the hotel provides ample free on site coach parking in its large car park.
