Halos and Hamlet
Meet your guide at London Bridge mainline station
This day trip has been designed for groups who can make their own way into London. All elements are within easy walking distance of each other. Due to this please note there is certain amount of walking involved.
Halos in Southwark Cathedral
Two minutes walk from the station, Southwark Cathedral stands at the oldest crossing-point of the River Thames. For centuries this was the only entrance to the City of London situated across the river. The first written reference is the mention of a ‘minster’ in the Domesday Book of 1086. Furthermore, Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales famously began at Southwark. You will have free time to visit the cathedral.
Borough Market
Spend some time before lunch exploring the area with your guide. Borough Market has existed in one form or another for around 1,000 years. Browse the colourful stalls and treat yourself to a little bit of something delicious before your journey home.
Lunch at The Barrowboy and Banker
Enjoy a traditional London one-course lunch with tea and coffee at this typical London pub a short walk from the cathedral.
Shakespeares Globe
Expert guides will take you on a fascinating tour of the iconic Globe Theatre, bringing the space to life with colourful stories of the 1599 Globe, of the reconstruction process in the 1990s, and of how ‘wooden O’ works today as an imaginative and experimental theatrical space. Tours last approximately 40 minutes. There will then be time to visit the gift shop and coffee shop before you depart.
