Thames Valley
2023 Prices On Request

Henley on Thames

Firstly, meet your guide in Henley on Thames. On arrival in Henley you will have chance to look round this pretty town overlooked by beautiful Chiltern landscape, wooded hills and green fields. The town, which was founded in the 12th century, is probably best known for its annual Royal Regatta, attracting some of the world’s best rowers.

Lunch at Marlow

Enjoy a two-course lunch followed by tea and coffee.

Marlow Return Cruise

Afterwards, make your way to the river bank where you will take a 40 minute return trip on the River Thames to Temple Lock. This lock is unique in that when builders made a new one in 1890, they left the old one alongside it. The surrounding area is very green and pleasant with flowers growing on the banks of the river. Therefore it is an ideal place to enjoy a relaxing river cruise.

Marlow: A Georgian Market Town

The Thames is at its most lovely as it flows through this pretty Georgian market town; spanned by an elegant suspension bridge built in the 19th century. Every year the Queen’s Swan Marker arrives at the town to put tags on the new cygnets. This ‘Swan Upping’ is a long standing tradition of the area. You may wish to have afternoon tea in one of the town’s cafés before boarding your coach for the journey home.

“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” – The Wind in the Willows
