Full Day at Keukenhof Gardens
With over 50 years of displaying its floral art with a different theme every year and a fresh look every day, Keukenhof has developed into a showcase for the flower bulb and ornamental plant industry. The history of Keukenhof, the name meaning ‘kitchen garden’, goes back to the 15th Century. Tulips proliferate but there are daffodils, hyacinths, narcissi and crocuses to admire as well. Perhaps see the gardens from a different perspective on a ‘Whisper Boat’ cruise. Optional guided tours also possible.
Spend a full day exploring the living laboratory that is Floriade. Discover new developments and be touched by what you see and see the many attractions, lots of art and culture, and with a unique collection of trees, shrubs, and flowers.
Floriade Expo 2022 will be an extraordinary expo. For six months the attention to the theme ‘Growing Green Cities’ will be focused on the cities of the future. Visitors will have a unique and meaningful experience: while visiting the expo they will be invited to ‘explore, touch and change’.
This expo will also be the start of a new city district close to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Almost everything that will be built for the exhibition will become part of the legacy of Almere. The structures will remain and become part of the community. As part of this innovative exhibition concept, Floriade Expo 2022 will stimulate innovation and the development of solutions that can benefit us all. It will be a living laboratory and a platform for smart solutions.
The expo site will be developed as a Green City Arboretum, serving as a model for green structure development in cities. This arboretum will consist of a variety of trees, shrubs, perennials, creepers, hydrophytes and flower bulbs, all of which contribute to a green, healthy and sustainable city. Around 3000 species have been selected that contribute to the green city in terms of biodiversity, air purification, food production and city climate management.
The arboretum will be planted in alphabetical order. Each lot within the grounds will be allocated a letter of the alphabet. A four-meter wide strip around each lot will contain plants and trees, the Latin names of which starts with the letter allocated to the lot. We invite participants to choose planting that bears a relationship to their exhibit, country or city of origin
