Your guide will meet you at Huntley’s Country Stores in Samlesbury. There will be an opportunity to buy a coffee before you set off again.
Whalley
Valleys, Fells and Spells begins here. Perched on the banks of the River Calder, Whalley in the Ribble Valley is the largest district in Lancashire. Furthermore, most of it is designated as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. Whalley is a charming village, filled with historic buildings, characterful shops and lovely cafes and restaurants.
Lunch at The Calfs Head Inn – A Greatdays’ Favourite
The Calf’s Head Inn is a country restaurant with a great reputation for excellent food and friendly service. It is therefore a wonderful place for a relaxing lunch. It has a history stretching back 400 years.
Scenic Tour
After lunch the tour continues through memorable countryside to reputedly Lancashire’s most beautiful village, Downham, the setting for many films and BBC drama series. You then travel onto the tranquil ruins of the 12th Century Sawley Abbey. Next it is over the Pendle Hills, before finally descending back down into the valley to Sabden village, home of two of the leading Pendle Witches.
Pendle Heritage Centre
Your last stop on this tour will be at the Pendle Heritage Centre, home to the Pendle Witches Museum.

After lunch, board your coach for a scenic tour of the area through the village of Downham and up into the Pendle Hills.

Pendle Heritage Centre
Your last stop on this tour will be at the Pendle Heritage Centre, home to Pendle Witches Museum.
