A Medway Meander
Maidstone Museum
Arrive and have a look around this fascinating museum. There is plenty to discover among the Fine & Applied Art, Human History, and Natural History groups, with some collections comparable to those at national museums. In fact, Maidstone Museum has been compared to a small Victoria & Albert Museum, British Museum, and Natural History Museum rolled into one, right at the heart of the Garden of England. Please note that currently there are no refreshment facilities at the Museum.
This museum is CLOSED on Mondays.
River Medway Lunch Cruise on the Kentish Lady
The Kentish Lady will leave Maidstone town centre and take a three hour cruise upriver through Farleigh Lock and onwards under Farleigh, Barming and Teston bridges, turning at Teston Lock for the return journey. Enjoy your lunch of Fish & Chips, whilst listening to the commentary along the way.
Once you are through the lock, the countryside opens up to reveal wildlife of all varieties. Remember to keep a watchful eye out for kingfishers, herons, swans, cormorants, geese and ducks! Providing easy access for standard wheelchairs, the Kentish Lady has excellent facilities including washrooms, heating and a fully licensed bar.
Medieval Medway
After your river cruise, you will have time to stretch your legs, and explore the gardens of the 14th century Archbishops Palace, which you can find on the river bank. Alternatively, your group may wish to browse the shops in the nearby Fremlin Walk shopping centre.
