Royal Deeside and Captain Scott’s Discovery
Royal Deeside has been a favourite with British Royalty since Queen Victoria and Prince Albert first fell in love with the area. Staying in the Granite City of Aberdeen or Dundee, the fourth largest City in Scotland, which ever you decide a great time awaits. This tour explores some of the lesser known attractions of this quieter part of Scotland. With the opportunity to travel on the Royal Deeside Railway, at one time regularly frequented by royalty, or visit the spectacular Great Garden at Pitmedden, which date back to 1675. We are sure you will fall in love with North East Scotland.

Captain Scott’s Discovery and Glamis Castle
After breakfast, depart for Discovery Point, Dundee and Captain Scott’s Ship, the RRS Discovery. Follow in Captain Scott’s footsteps and see his crew’s hardships and triumphs on their voyage to the Antarctica. You may instead choose to visit the newly opened V&A Museum. Back on dry land continue onto Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the late Queen Mother. Return to your hotel with time to relax for dinner.
Drum Castle and The Royal Railway
After breakfast, travel to Drum Castle, considered to be the most scented garden in Scotland. Gifted to Scotland by King Robert the Bruce in 1323, Drum combines medieval history, Jacobean romance and Victorian opulence in one. After enjoying Drum Castle continue onwards to the Royal Deeside Railway, at one time regularly frequented by royalty. This standard gauge steam and diesel hauled heritage railway is in a beautiful setting running alongside the River Dee. The return journey lasts 20 minutes, there is also a carriage tea-room for a light lunch after your journey. In the afternoon, visit nearby Crathes Castle with one of Europe’s finest walled gardens. With connections to King Robert the Bruce, this late 16th century castle has towers, turrets and stories of resident ghosts. Some of the rooms still retain their original painted ceilings and collections of family portraits and furniture. Return to your hotel for dinner.
