Innsbruck, capital of the Tyrol region, is Austria in a nutshell. Its delightful old town and striking Habsburg palace are particular highlights. Built in the 15th century, the Hofburg residence is a pearly white gem featuring various frescos of its regal former residents, including Marie Antoinette.
Admire the beautiful landscape of the state with a tour through the Pinzgau and Ziller Valleys. Stop in the charming ski town of Kitzbühel and at the cascading waterfalls at Krimml. Discover the picturesque Ziller and Pinzgau Valleys. See the idyllic ski resort of Kitzbühel, where we can soak up the mountain air before continuing to the famous Krimml Waterfalls. Europe’s highest free-falling cascades, the lowest of the falls is reached with a gentle 30-minute stroll, and is well worth the effort.
Crossing the Austro-Germanic border
Make the short trip into Germany to visit the awe-inspiring castles of Bavaria. A veritable treasure trove of wonderful sights. Story book castles perch high in the hills while crystal clear lakes sparkle below. Medieval towns nestle in the beautiful Bavarian landscapes and snow-capped mountains. Here, we visit the remarkable Schloss Neuschwanstein. Surrounded by the Ammergau, Lechtal and Tannheim Alps, the spires of this castle inspired have made their mark on the world of film in The Great Escape and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and will strike a chord with fans of Disney, having inspired the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Day 1-2
Travel to the Tyrol
Take a short sea crossing to Calais and travel south through France for an overnight stop before arriving in Soll, Austria on day 2.
Day 3
Innsbruck and Crystals
No visit would be complete without a visit to the cultural and tourist capital of the Tirol. See the famous Bergisel Ski Jump, Hofburg Palace, Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) and much more. Spend some time in the historic old town before making the short drive to Wattens for an optional visit to the famous Swarovski Crystal World.
Day 4
Strudel and Schnapps
A half day excursion starting at the medieval town of Rattenberg, where you can visit the family-owned Café Hacker for a traditional demonstration of strudel-making and tasting. The town is also home of the Kisslinger Glass Factory and you can watch a glassblowing demonstration.
Day 5
Ziller Valley Railway, Kitzbühl Alps and Krimml Waterfalls
An excursion around the Ziller and Pinzgau valleys, including a stop in the charming town of Kitzbühel, a famous ski resort. Continue to the picturesque town of Mayrhofen, returning via Krimml and the Gerlos Pass. A further option would be to take a ride on the historic Ziller Valley Steam train which will take you on a nostalgic journey through magnificent scenery to Fügen whilst enjoying some live music and a glass of local schnapps en-route!
Day 6
Visit Germany
Enjoy an excursion by coach into Germany to visit King Ludwig’s most famous castles – Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The setting for these fairy tale castles high in the mountains is truly superb and at St. Mary’s Bridge (Marienbrücke), high above the Pöllat Gorge, you will have views of Hohenschwangau and Alpsee lake. Alternatively, it would also be possible to visit the Herrenchiemsee Palace, located on an island in the middle of Bavaria’s largest lake, accessible by a special boat.
Day 7
Tiroler Moonlight Steam Train
Enjoy a beautiful steam train ride at night from Jenbach at 18.30hrs and travel to Eben am Achensee. On arrival we will have a three course dinner with choice of main course and a traditional folklore evening with music and dancing at the Kirchenwirt restaurant. After a great evening of food and entertainment you board the train again at 22.00hrs for the journey back to Jenbach. A fantastic new addition to your Austria itinerary.
Day 8-9
Return to the UK
It’s time to leave Austria, make an overnight stop en route before continuing to Calais the following morning to return to the UK.

Popular centrally located hotel in Soll, only five minutes walk from the centre of the village. The hotel offers a heated outdoor swimming pool as well as a gym, sauna, steam bath and solarium. Four course dinners and menu choice are served for dinner. Coach parking is available next to the hotel. Twin rooms will be Austrian twins with two mattresses in one frame.

Hotel Postwirt, Söll ****
The Hotel Postwirt occupies a historic building in the centre of Söll. It includes a Tyrolean restaurant, a heated outdoor pool, and a modern spa area. Opened in December 2012, the spa area includes an infrared cabin, a salt steam bath, a soft sauna, a Finnish sauna, and two relaxation areas. On site free of charge coach parking available. Twin rooms will be Austrian twins with two mattresses in one frame.
