Tyrol’s Endless Possibilities

Innsbruck, capital of the Tyrol region, is Austria in a nutshell. Its delightful old town and striking Habsburg palace are particular highlights. Built in the 15th century, the Hofburg residence is a pearly white gem featuring various frescos of its regal former residents, including Marie Antoinette.

Admire the beautiful landscape of the state with a tour through the Pinzgau and Ziller Valleys. Stop in the charming ski town of Kitzbühel and at the cascading waterfalls at Krimml. A steam train journey takes you to serene Lake Achen, where you can cruise in the heart of the Alps. Furthermore, just a short drive away lies Salzburg, perhaps most famous as Mozart’s birthplace and setting for ‘The Sound of Music’. It boasts ornate palaces and the beautiful Hohensalzburg castle.

Swarovski Kristallwelten

The fairy-tale crystal world of Swarovski greets you to its sparkling utopia with the dazzling figure head of a gem-encrusted giant’s head fountain. Within the Chamber of Wonders lie crystal forests and works from notable artists, including fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Enter into the heart of this crystal empire to be awed by sparkling art.

Awe-inspiring beauty of the Ziller Valley

Discover the picturesque Ziller and Pinzgau Valleys. See the idyllic ski resort of Kitzbühel, where we can soak up the mountain air before continuing to the famous Krimml Waterfalls. Europe’s highest free-falling cascades, the lowest of the falls is reached with a gentle 30-minute stroll, and is well worth the effort.

Crossing the Austro-Germanic border

Make the short trip into Germany to visit the awe-inspiring castles of Bavaria. A veritable treasure trove of wonderful sights. Story book castles perch high in the hills while crystal clear lakes sparkle below. Medieval towns nestle in the beautiful Bavarian landscapes and snow-capped mountains. Here, we visit the remarkable Schloss Neuschwanstein. Surrounded by the Ammergau, Lechtal and Tannheim Alps, the spires of this castle inspired have made their mark on the world of film in The Great Escape and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and will strike a chord with fans of Disney, having inspired the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle.

See the best of the Austrian Tyrol and enjoy an experience like no other on the Tiroler Moonlight Steam train.
