Watery Tales of the Derbyshire Dales

Derbyshire
£38.00 per person

Enjoy the green rolling hills of the Derbyshire Dales as you head towards the Derwent Valley which is a World Heritage Site. After lunch take time to wander at the waterside before heading off for a tour of the famous Derbyshire peaks.

Tour of the Derbyshire Dales

After meeting your guide at Buxton, an ancient spa town famed for its thermal springs and bottled mineral water, the coach will set off for a scenic tour of the Derbyshire Dales, heading towards the village of Cromford, famed for being part of The Derwent Valley World Heritage Site, before driving on to Carsington Water. This modern reservoir, which opened in 1992, nestles snugly into the Derbyshire countryside.

Lunch at The Mainsail Restaurant

Enjoy a two-course lunch followed by tea and coffee. This popular lunch venue has large picture windows and a balcony terrace. It’s the perfect spot for bird watching or to see sail boats and windsurfers gliding by on the great expanse of water.

Visitor Centre Carsington Water and Stones Island

Look around the Visitor Centre and its little mix of shops, and see the famous Kugel Stone float on the water. Take time to wander a while by the water’s edge. You might prefer to walk out along the flat causeway to Stones Island. Here many different views can be seen through the standing stones.

Scenic Tour of the Peaks and Peak Shopping Village

Your afternoon tour heads off to run through Ashbourne. Here you will not only find one of the best Georgian street scenes in the country but also a cobbled market place and quaint buildings. Then there will be chance to visit Peak Shopping Village for a shopping opportunity.
