Meet your guide at Chequer Mead

Meet your knowledgable local guide at this Community Theatre in East Grinstead. There will be an opportunity to have coffee in the Lodge coffee shop before moving on.

The Bluebell Railway Museum

You will drive through the High Weald and heather covered Ashdown Forest en route to Sheffield Park Station. Here you’ll visit the Engine Sheds and newly opened museum. You will see many features including props and photos from the numerous films recorded on location. The Bluebell Railway was the location for films like The Woman in Black, The Railway Children and Kingsmen.

Lunch at The Stable Tea Rooms

You will enjoy a two-course lunch with tea and coffee at this picturesque location, with an equally pretty name, Heaven Farm.

Tour of the Town that didn’t stare

After your delicious lunch, you will return to East Grinstead. Here your guide will inform you of the pioneering work done by Second World War surgeon Archibald Mckindoe and how the community accepted and protected his patients. There will be an opportunity to visit the small museum which has a number of artefacts on display. Why not browse the independent shops on the Medieval High Street and view the statue of Archibald Mckindoe. The focal point of East Grinstead’s charm and old Market Town reputation is the conservation area in and around the historic High Street. It’s not too hard to find as you just have to look to the skyline and spot the tallest building, which will be the tower of St Swithun’s Church.
