The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Welshpool

The building that houses the Edinburgh Woollen Mill is one of the most elegant listed buildings in the area. It was originally the old Welshpool station built in the French Chateau style.  This old station has been fully restored to its former glory. It is an excellent place to browse through the various well stocked departments and coffee shop.

Wales Tales Tour

We now travel through the beautiful rural heartland of Wales surrounded by an amphitheatre of mellow hills. The undisturbed country side is rich in wildlife and is renowned for its mighty castles of old. Some remaining castles are of the finest in the world and other fortresses are just piles of stones thrown along Offa’s Dyke reminding us of the troubles between the English and Welsh stretching back to before Roman times. These days this borderland area and the surrounding hills have a timeless quality.

A country steam Railway

Opened in 1903 to link the market town of Welshpool to the rural community of Llanfair Caereinion, this 2 foot 6 inch narrow gauge steam railway now provides a tourist service for all the family and a welcome change from the rush of every day life.  Most of our trains are steam hauled, either by one of our unique original locomotives or one from abroad. Your journey by steam train begins at Llanfair Caereinion where steam locomotives pull the carriages alongside the River Banwy with the sound of the engines echoing off the surrounding hills.
