A value break to the beautiful Rhine Valley

With its fairytale castles, terraced vineyards and picturesque villages, the Rhine Valley is one of the most popular regions in the whole of Germany. During this tour there are visits to Rüdesheim, Boppard, St. Goar, and Mainz.

The warm feeling of staying in a delightful, friendly and welcoming family-run hotel is especially wonderful. Enjoy 3 course dinners in a cosy atmosphere each evening. Furthermore, you will also enjoy some special extras including a wine tasting and an evening of live music. If your group has other requests, just let us know and we’ll see what we can arrange!

Vineyards, castles and charming cobblestone towns

Visit one of the Rhine Valley’s most famous little towns – Rüdesheim. Stroll through the cobbled streets of gabled buildings to Drosselgasse, a lively street with bars, cafes and restaurants. Boppard is equally charming but slightly larger, and makes an excellent day trip. One of the Rhine Valley’s most picturesque towns, the lovely promenade runs right alongside the river. Another wonderful place to visit is the 12th century monastery in Eberbach. This beautiful building has an interesting past and has also served as a film set. Uncover its past on a tour and enjoy a tasting of local Riesling wines.

Suggested Itinerary by coach

Day 1

Arrive in the Rhine Valley

Watch the scenery unfold as you travel to your hotel in Assmanhausen. Check-in and if time allows begin to explore the local area before sitting down to a three-course dinner in your hotel.

Day 2

Rüdesheim Sightseeing

Rüdesheim is one of the most famous riverside towns on the Rhine, and with good reason. Take a stroll along the famous Drosselgasse, a lively, narrow cobbled street with bars, cafes and restaurants. We will take a visit to Siegfried’s Mechanical Museum to see and hear some remarkable musical instruments. You may want to take a ride in a cable car over the vineyards to the Niederwald monument high above the town for some magnificent views. If time permits, visit the Asbach Brandy distillery for a tour and a tasting.

Day 3

Panoramic Rhine Valley: Boppard and St. Goar

Today, immerse yourself in the area’s beautiful landscapes with a panoramic drive through the Rhine Valley. We pass castles, vineyards, and the famous Loreley Rock. Legend has it a beautiful maiden sang to passing sailors, luring their ships towards the rock and their sorry end. Look out for the little statue on the rock. There’s free time to explore delightful Boppard, an old town with an elegant promenade, and St. Goar, which is home to the world’s largest free-hanging cuckoo clock.

Day 4

Mainz and Eberbach Monastery

Today we venture to the beautiful city of Mainz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Main rivers. Perhaps view the Romanesque cathedral, the marvellous windows by Chagall in St Stephan’s church and the fascinating Gutenburg museum. In the afternoon, we continue to the preserved 12th century monastery of Eberbach. During your guided monastery tour, taste wines in the atmospheric cellars.

Day 5

Return to the UK

It’s time to leave the Rhine Valley. We retrace our route back to Calais and return to the UK.
