Part of my tourism management studies in Germany is to complete a 6 month internship abroad.

After sending out numerous applications, I finally decided to go with Greatdays. For me it was the perfect opportunity to get to know the UK outside of London. Despite my previous experiences in the tourism industry this was my first time working for a group tour operator so I was not sure what to expect, but the staff at Greatdays helped me to quickly adapt to the role. Working independently and as part of the team, mainly as part of the UK and Day Trip departments, I was updating the website with new tours for 2020. I managed new bookings in Tourplan and added new suppliers to the system. With the Christmas events came responsibility.  One of my highlights was the organisation of the Christmas events where I also had the opportunity to visit one of them myself.

Over the Christmas period I took on extra responsibility. Since the rest of the Day Trip team was out of the office to look after the events, I took care of the customer service in the office. For a while, I was the only contact person in our department. This job has shown me how much my work at Greatdays is appreciated.

Working at Greatdays has shown me how I handle fast paced work situation and proven how adaptable I am in challenging circumstances.

My advice to the next intern would be take the intern folder and read through everything at your own pace, don’t be afraid to speak to somebody if you have any questions – everybody will be happy to help you.

After just completed my GCSEs I didn’t fancy going back to college or sixth form so I started looking for jobs. I luckily came across Greatdays Internship so I applied for it straight away, since I enjoyed travelling on my own at the age of 3 coming to the UK so I thought why not take a career path down Travel and Tourism and see where we go from there.Read more

I was an intern for the European department for 12 months. Not going to lie, but it was challenging at first because I worked for different departments at the same time and there was a lot of information to take in. But the team have been very patient and supportive which made me feel comfortable and they’re always there to answer my questions if I was unsure about something.

During my internship I had a variety of task to complete preparing Drivers Pack and itineraries, booking reports, loading enquiries and sending out brochures. I even had a chance to create my own tour on SAIL Amsterdam and seeing it sent out as an E-SHOT was amazing!!! The even more exciting news was I received my first enquiries and started working on the quotes and itineraries straight away. Working in different departments really helped me understand how Greatdays works as a whole and I am very grateful to have that experience and knowledge.

My biggest Highlight of being here at Greatdays is coming into work and spending time with my amazing team and all the staff, they made me feel very confident about myself and I’ve learnt so much within the time I’ve spent here, I have seen a massive change within myself.

Also a massive thank you to Greatdays for giving me this opportunity, it was an amazing experience. Thank you to everybody in the European team for putting up with me, you guys are like a family to me and I will definitely miss you all.

As part of my double degree in Tourism and Management I was required to complete an internship abroad. Choosing my internship was difficult, as at this point, I was unsure about the career path I wanted to take. I knew that both tourism and business were of great interest to me and therefore I considered these as options, or, if possible, a combination of the two. The Greatdays Travel Group caught my attention straight away, as it could give me the chance to experience and learn about both of them.Read more

I remember my first day at Greatdays Travel Group as if it was yesterday. I was feeling nervousness about what to expect, but excitement about the next 6 months. On arriving at the office, the first impression I gained was positive; friendly and kind people working in a welcoming environment. I then became to realise, how team-oriented, motivated, collaborated, but also fun the company was. It was a great balance, as everyone works hard, but they are also rewarded for their effort.

My colleagues, within the Day Trips and UK Department, made me feel right at home and from day one I have been considered part of the team, which I feel is an important trait in an organisation.  Thanks to them I learnt day by day all the processes involved in tour booking, in the maintenance and optimization of the Greatdays website and, in the end, I had the chance to create my own tour for the European department. I also learnt the importance of being precise, accurate, and thanks to the many 1:1 I had with Andy, I realised how important internal communications and interpersonal relationships are in the successful running of a company.

Working with this experienced team helped me develop the necessary skills, which will stand me in good stead for the future, when I enter the working world as a graduate. I didn’t just get given simple tasks, the projects I was given were challenging, which tested me and helped me build on my strengths and develop my weaknesses. One of the fears I had to overcome was the language, in particular during meetings and when picking up calls. Jenny told me to not feel pressured but she always encouraged me to try, until I worked up the courage. I felt extremely proud and satisfied after that.

I really want to say a big thank you to all the staff for making me feel welcomed. A particular big thank you to Jenny and Louise for their patience in answering all my questions and for all the knowledge I have been given. This was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Grazie mille!

Studying Tourism Management in Heilbronn, Germany, it is part of my degree to do an internship of six months in the tourism industry. Having done online research trying to find companies abroad which offer tourism internships, I stumbled across the Greatdays internship program and I was immediately intrigued. Now, looking back I know that I have made the right decision to come to Manchester and work for Greatdays. Not only have I learned a lot about the tourism industry, and especially about the tour operator industry, I got to meet and work with incredible people and I also learned loads about a new country and its culture.Read more

My home department here at Greatdays was the Day Trips department which also gave me direct insight into Manchester Sightseeing and the UK / Ireland department. Initially, my tasks mainly included tasks for the day trips department, e.g. loading bookings for events and day trips onto the booking system, contacting suppliers and checking their availability for day trips, doing website work etc., but with time I got more and more tasks from other departments. That included e.g. updating the Greatdays Cruises website, loading phone bookings onto the system and creating driver’s packs for the UK / Ireland department. What I especially appreciated was that everyone made sure that I felt comfortable about taking on new tasks and projects so that I always found myself challenged but never overwhelmed.

Learning about the tourism industry in theory during my time at university made me curious to see what the real world is like and being with Greatdays for six months has shown me a lot of different facets. Experiencing everything from how tours and trips are developed and advertised to how they are booked and eventually operated was very interesting. One of my highlights was probably when I got to attend one of our Christmas Show Party Lunches in Chester and actually see what the event is like which I have booked so many times for our clients. I also got to write up my own tour for the European Department which I then loaded onto the website and which is now available for groups to book. I got to work a lot on my own initiative on this task, so the process was informative and working together with Beth was a lot of fun. Another personal success was mastering picking up the phone and talking to customers. With English not being my mother tongue I was quite worried at the beginning to pick up the phone or to take phone bookings. With time however, it got easier and I became a lot more confident which is something that will be helpful for my future career. My language skills improved a lot during my time at Greatdays, especially regarding phrases and wordings for professional emails.

All in all I had a great time here at Greatdays. I got to learn so much in a great environment and I can definitely recommend this internship to anyone interested.

At the end of my Tourism studies 2 years ago I chose to come to Manchester to improve my English. While I was going to look for jobs, some months after, I realised I wasn’t ready at all to work properly “in the real work world” and moreover here in England! That is when I found Greatdays and the internship program that it offered.  This has certainly been one of the best choices I could have made, I have learnt a lot about the Tourism industry, all the processes and have discovered how a travel company works. I have also experienced the European consultant role which I appreciate so much and it has improved my English whilst also learning all the travel vocabulary. I have met some brilliant and very interesting people, who were always ready to help when needed. All the staff at Greatdays are unbelievably friendly. I would not say this is something easy at the beginning, especially if you are from overseas, because of the language. It took me time to be able to answer the phone for example, but at the end you will get there (because you have no choice!!). I would recommend to anyone looking for an experience in the travel industry to come to Greatdays.

After finishing my degree in Italian and European Studies, I sought to join the travel industry. Despite this, I was continuously rejected for not having enough experience, this led me down a career path I did not what to continue with. Once I saw Greatdays were offering an internship, I believed this was a lifeline into the industry, I applied and I was given an interview. My fears of being an intern as a post-graduate were quashed after reading all the testimonies and during the interview the Director Andy reassured me and explained the job role to me, which fitted perfectly with the experience I was seeking.Read more

I began my internship early as there was an opportunity to do so, as well as this, I was eager to get started. I was placed under the guidance of the London and Incoming department manager Mark, whose experience and willingness to share with me was a great help in settling me into the industry. Once I began my internship fully, I was given a varied role across all departments. This was a role I was grateful for. It gave an insight into the ‘production line’ of a travel business that I wouldn’t have experienced with any other company. After never previously working in an office based environment, I was unsure what to expect but the staff were very welcoming but were quick to give me tasks which challenged me. This was what I needed from the internship to excel in the role.

After coming from a European-oriented education, I leant towards completing my internship in that department. However, once I began to work with London, UK & Ireland, Air & Cruise as well as Disney, Sales and the product development team, I quickly learnt that each department has a lot to offer. My duties across the role included processing bookings through all the variance IT systems which enhanced my IT skills significantly. My communication skills quickly improved as I was constantly in communication with clients and colleagues. Furthermore, my role with the product development team was extremely enjoyable as I was researching new destinations and I was given the freedom by my manager Jess and my colleague Beth to do some creative writing and to see a tour I wrote go on the front page of the website was very rewarding for me.

Overall, I would recommend the internship for anyone who is looking to experience the travel industry, whether that is to be part of placement or to begin a career. It has been thoroughly enjoyable and an extremely useful experience. The time has flown by.

As part of my degree in Management, I am required to undergo a placement year during my third year of University. I decided to apply for this internship at Greatdays because I was always interested in tourism and hospitality but never really had the chance to work in this industry.

I am actually quite shy in nature and dislike picking up the phone and conversing with clients. However, even before starting this internship I vowed to myself that I must overcome this ‘fear’ and be more confident on the telephone. I still remember my first conversation with a very difficult client, and how I managed to handle it in a professional manner; that sense of achievement, albeit small, is such an amazing feeling. And after 12 months, I can safely say that I am quite confident in telephone conversations, and I am even entrusted with the responsibility of making phone bookings for clients.Read more

I am quite lucky as I was involved in the Manchester Sightseeing project almost from the very beginning of my internship. This includes meeting and greeting clients at Manchester Piccadilly Station and handing out train tickets and itineraries to them. I love doing this station duty as I get to meet different people from all around the world, and share my appreciation and love for the cities we have on offer. Besides that, I also helped distribute brochures to all the hotels in Manchester, which sounds quite boring but is actually quite fun (for me at least) as I get to interact with the hotel concierge and observe how they treat their customers, the interior design, and the overall vibe of the hotels.

As I am originally from Malaysia, I have never actually worked in an office environment in the UK before. I was quite apprehensive before taking up this position as I was afraid that I will not be able to adapt to my surroundings easily. Reading the testimonials from previous interns helped as I was reassured that everyone was really helpful and friendly in this company. And besides not getting used to the tea/coffee rounds in the office, I was able to settle down quite comfortably and happily in my new role.

Even though I am primarily in the Day Trips department, I have had so many opportunities to work alongside other departments within the company. I love the fact that because my daily tasks vary across the different departments, I get to learn new skills and apply them in different situations. 12 months have gone by so quickly, and I will miss everyone at Greatdays as they have made my year here so memorable and delightful!

I decided to apply for the internship at Greatdays as part of my Industrial Placement year at University. When I found the internship it was exactly what I was looking for. I had no previous experience in a working environment and so initially the process was quite daunting, however reading the previous testimonials and seeing how long the company had taken on interns was very reassuring.Read more

Throughout the 6 months I was at Greatdays I worked in the Disney and Cruise department. This allowed me to work on a number of different projects across both departments. Initially the different systems and processes were a lot to take in; however the team were all very supportive and made me feel very comfortable. My day to day jobs included, putting together driver packs, collating sales figures, writing website itineraries and processing bookings. I found it particularly interesting to work on the Disney events, The Magic Run and Magical Pride.

I also had the chance to work in the Sales and Marketing team quite frequently. This involved working on improving the SEO scores on the website, finding new clients, and making sure the website was up to date.

Another project that I was lucky enough to be able to work on was the new Manchester Music Tour Project which, whilst initially was out of my comfort zone, I found very interesting and I am looking forward to seeing the final product.

During my 6 months I also gained insight into the roles of the other departments, and was given a task from each to help me understand their department more clearly. For the European department I created my own Incentive tour to Prague which was sent out in an E-shot. This was great as it allowed me to learn about the different roles in a business, and it was rewarding to see a tour that I had produced be sent out to customers.

Overall, I would recommend the internship at Greatdays, it has not only allowed me to gain valuable experience in the travel industry, but the working environment is great to work in, and I have certainly developed many transferable skills. I worked full time for the Daytrips and UK departments which has been a pleasure from day 1. Obviously there have been a few challenges in the beginning and it took me a while to understand the IT systems but everyone was always ready to help and answer any questions so I felt part of the team really quickly.

I have learnt so much in the past six months – from day to day operations including loading bookings, liaising with suppliers, confirming tours and getting in touch with the clients to website work, writing tour itineraries and creating travel packs. Next to this I attended a lot of meetings including 1-1s with our managing director Andy, departmental meetings and brochure meetings. I was lucky enough to go on a familiarisation trip to Chester as part of Greatdays’ new Manchester Sightseeing project which was a great experience.

During my internship I had the opportunity to go into all the other departments which was very interesting as I could see how each of them operated and – most importantly – how they all work together. This helped me a lot to understand how Greatdays works as a whole. Additionally, I got to work on projects for each department and two of these were absolute highlights for me. For the European department I was allowed to create a tour going to my home area in Germany. Seeing this being sent out as an E-Shot was really great! As a Cruise Tourism student I was of course excited to work for the cruise department and I was given a very interesting project related to Norwegian Cruise Lines which I enjoyed very much.

I have to say that I am going to miss being part of this great team! This was a truly amazing experience and I would absolutely recommend this internship to everyone. At the beginning I won’t lie, it was not that easy. There was a lot of information to take in and it was really challenging for me because I worked in several departments at the same time. Fortunately, everyone at Greatdays has always been really patient with me and ready to answer all my questions or explain to me again if I wasn’t sure.

Every day was different for me because I had a high variety of tasks to complete from the currency exchange rates, sales reports, drivers’ packs, tour quotations and general operational requirements. I have spent quite a lot of my time working on the website trying to improve SEO scores, add new itineraries for every department and making sure they were always up to date and consistent. I’ve mainly worked with the Cruise & Air department where I was more involved in the booking process.

During my internship I had the opportunity to take part in some challenging projects as the development of new worldwide tours and research for incentive and FIT groups. I even got the chance to create my own tour from scratch and it was really exciting to receive the first enquiries and start working on the quotes and itineraries of a product I created by myself.

I would absolutely recommend this experience to everyone looking for an exciting and challenging internship in the tourism industry. Not only had I improved my communication, time management and prioritization skills but also my geographical knowledge, especially within the UK. I worked full time as an intern in the European Operations department and had been given a lot of responsibility. My tasks were very varied and included compiling driver’s packs to send to the groups, phoning hotels and clients for updates, writing tours for the website and brochures and preparing tour quotations and confirmations. I have learnt a huge amount about the business due to being given tasks to complete from different departments and this has helped me to understand how the company operates as a whole. I have received training in different areas of the business, from operations, product development and marketing to finance, administration and company management. I have discovered that I am most interested in the product development and operations sides of the business.

Away from the office, I was given the opportunity to attend the staff conference which gave me a deeper insight into the business and the World Travel Market in London which allowed me to learn more about the companies that Greatdays works with. I am pleased that a tour which I wrote has been published in the company brochure and I have researched, written and edited many tours for the website. I have learnt how to manage my workload in an efficient manner, worked well individually as well with others, taken part in meetings and made a speech to the directors Andy and Paul. I had been asked to complete numerous different tasks and projects whilst at Greatdays and in this testimonial I have only covered a small amount of varied tasks that I had undertaken.

I worked as an intern in Day Trips and UK and had several tasks to complete on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. During my time in Day Trips I was responsible for many important processes and tasks. My daily and primary tasks were booking day trips and events for private clients and coach companies. This involved loading the trip details onto tour plan, contacting and confirming dates with suppliers and guides, creating a booking confirmation on PCM and requesting for a deposit invoice. I was also involved in the maintenance and optimization of the Greatdays website which included uploading new tours for the website, improving SEO rankings and adding tour, hotel and area descriptions. Here I was mostly involved in Europe, UK and Day Trips. In the UK department, I was in charge of composing and putting together drivers packs that would serve as information sheets for coach drivers. I was also handed ad-hoc tasks that involved parts of the booking processes for air and accommodation-based tours in the UK and Ireland.

Because of my interest in Marketing, Andy entrusted me with the task of improving SEO scores across all operational departments which meant I could apply my academic knowledge and improve my professional capabilities at the same time. For me, this was definitely a highlight of my internship as it was something I was passionate about and it showed me that Greatdays was able to prioritise my interests.

Besides gaining insight into all these different types of processes and procedures, I also had inductions with other departments such as Finance and Admin, which really helped me understand and comprehend the complex nature of a business.

Like most interns before me, the internship was part of my studies in Germany. During the interview, Andy asked me which departments I would like to be in, if I’d get the internship and I decided to go for Disney – a choice I would always make again! I was the operations intern for Disney, Air, Cruise and Incoming.Read more

When I started my internship in September, two main events were about to take place – the run Disney Half Marathon and Magical Pride. In late November, the sale for the 2017 Half Marathon weekend launched and one of my ongoing tasks, besides dealing with my own groups and sending out quotations, was processing the marathon bookings as they came in.

I also got to know the process of how to handle cruise bookings from the moment booking forms arrived, all the way through to confirming the bookings with the cruise operator and the customers going on the cruise.

One of the tasks I had throughout my internship was working with the website. I had heard about SEO in university but I had no experience whatsoever. This changed during my time with Greatdays massively! After getting an introduction on my second day, I worked on the World-wide tours SEO scores, checked all Incoming tours with regards to the pictures (i.e. making sure the pictures were all the same size) and created pages for the different attractions at Disneyland Paris. Furthermore I created pages for the MSC Cruises part of the website from scratch and I even got the chance to build a whole new website for Manchester Football Tours (with the help of an IT specialist). In order to get a better understanding of Manchester United, the partner of Manchester Football Tours, I got the chance to visit Old Trafford and go on the Theatre of Dreams Stadium tour. In addition to the work I did for Disney, Air, Cruise and Incoming, I also worked on projects for other departments. Those projects and the time I spent in the day-to-day operations broadened my understanding of how the business is built and run and how everything connected with each other. I am glad I chose to do my internship in a small rather than a large company! The whole team made me feel welcome and everyone was willing to help me, if I had a question or something wasn’t clear.

I was mainly based in the UK/Ireland & Day Trips department and supported the teams with their everyday tasks. I was involved in almost every step of the day trips booking process, including loading enquiries onto the booking system, checking availability with suppliers and booking the groups in, sending out confirmations, making sure everything is prepared for the group to go on the tour and finally sending out customer satisfaction questionnaires. This showed me how important every single step of the process is, even if it may seem small in the beginning.

Another regular task was to prepare the Driver’s packs and itineraries for groups travelling around the UK & Ireland, which meant putting together useful information for the group to take with them. Working on the website and updating tours was one responsibility I hadn’t anticipated, but I really enjoyed it and felt like I could finally apply some of the things I learned at university in the “real world”.

Introductory sessions with the different departments helped me gain an understanding of how a business works as a whole, and some departments gave me projects to get a more in-depth insight into their work which was great. One highlight was the introductory session about the management of a business like Greatdays with the Managing Director Andy Beard.

I got to go on familiarisation trips with the UK and Day Trips team and learned how important it is to experience a tour before being able to sell it. In addition, Greatdays supported me in making my own travel plans around the country which was a great help.

During my time with Greatdays I learned a lot about myself as well as the business and I would like to thank Jenny, Louise and the whole UK department for making me a part of the team, keeping me busy and answering any questions I had. Everyone at Greatdays made me feel welcome and I am glad I got to spend my internship at a company that really wants the interns to make the most of their time.

As part of my International Tourism Management degree I had the opportunity to partake in an internship abroad in a tourism related company. My everyday tasks included the support of the Disney, Cruise and Incoming Department. I was able to take part in most of the booking process from responding to enquiries, to uploading information on Tourplan and sending out quotes, to the booking of attractions and creating itineraries. I was also in charge of creating Driver’s Packs. A further responsibility was to build up the cruise website. I even had the opportunity to go on a visit to one of Fred.Olsen’s Cruise Ships. After exporting the Incoming database to a new system I took responsibility for sending out e-shots and keeping the database up-to-date. I was fortunate to go on Familiarisation Trips to York and the Lake District after working on tours for these areas. It was a great experience which has shown me the importance of networking and enabled me to get to know the attractions and hotels that Greatdays is working with.

I am partly focussing on Marketing in university and was especially interested in getting to know this area of my business studies in a professional environment. Therefore, Greatdays gave me the chance to participate in a Social Media Marketing Course, work on a Social Media Marketing Strategy and then to implement it.

While I was primarily based in operational departments, Greatdays enabled me to get insight into all of the other departments, even the management tasks and I participated in several meetings. Therefore, the Internship programme helped me to improve my understanding of how a business works and how important communication is to the running of a successful company.

As part of my Bachelor Tourism Management course in Germany I had to absolve an internship in a tourism related business. During my research for a suitable company I became aware of Greatdays. The company had previously trained interns and according to published testimonials of former interns the company really took care of the interns and helped them to gain the most of their limited time in the company. During my time at Greatdays I was able to take part in the entire booking process from taking the initial enquiries to contracting tours upon confirmation and ensuring all services are booked as requested. While I started compiling ‘Driver’s Packs’ which include helpful information on the booked tour for the group leader, I very soon was allowed to work on new enquiries. Based on the individual requests relevant suppliers are contacted to negotiate specific rates and availability. Once all relevant information is collected, the services are combined and an individual tour quotation is sent to the customer. Upon confirmation the tours are contracted with both the suppliers and the client.

While I was primarily based in the European department, I also had the chance to get insights into several other departments. This helped me to get an overall picture how a business in the tourism industry works and enabled me to understand which role every department takes in order to deliver a quality product. Through various projects I did even get an idea of the tasks the management of a medium-sized business has to face on a daily basis. One of my personal highlights was my first real-life commercial success in a legal proceeding in the European Courts.

It was an interesting and rewarding time and I enjoyed working with the Greatdays team, as they are not only friendly and supportive but have an immense knowledge of the tourism industry.

I would like to thank the amazing European Department which was taking care of me, always kept me busy and made me and my work feel appreciated. Even though my internship took part in the Air & Cruise Department, I have had the chance to move around within the company and learn more about the business as a whole. Through little assignments, I gained an insight into how each department works and every department fits together within the business. I personally had an interest to broaden my knowledge in finance and luckily I had the chance to spend more time in that department in order to do so.

My main tasks were quite varied as I was working for a department, which had two distinct branches. On the one hand, I was taking enquiries and loading bookings into our system for our cruise department. On the other hand, I was in charge of booking and monitoring all flight reservations, regardless from which department the tour originated. Furthermore, any worldwide tour or enquiry would be dealt by my department which has offered me the opportunity to create and advertise tours to fascinating countries such as Cambodia or Bolivia, which I knew little about.

I would definitely recommend participating in the internship programme as it is a very rewarding experience. It has not only helped me learn more about the travel industry but it also has helped me improve my personal skills, such as organisation or communication. The team has always been a pleasure to work and spend time with. I would like to thank them all for their continuous encouragement and for making this internship an amazing experience.

I strongly recommend Greatdays Travel Group to anyone wishing to do an internship with real professionals of tourism.

During my internship period several personal tasks have been entrusted to me such as the creation of driver packs. The packs include information on the different attractions, hotels and the locations. On a daily basis I entered onto the group tours database, Tour Plan all the new creditors and debtors. This operation allows the team to start a new reservation, to find a customer or partners email or phone number quickly with the clients reference code. I had various administrative tasks such as the updating of attractions, restaurants, hotels prices or guide services for the 2016 quotation by sending e-mails to the suppliers or via a quick call. I also was responsible for the analysis of customer satisfaction questionnaires, shipments of brochures, the folders arrangement or the creation of a Staff Planner every week.

All the team quickly put me at ease and you feel really integrated, I really felt a family atmosphere at Greatdays and they work well in joy and good humour. I think it is rare to find such an atmosphere suitable to work in a company. I have been trained and accompanied throughout this experience with great patience and pedagogy. So when I did not understand some things I did not hesitate to ask again for an explanation. I was always kept busy by the manager and staff, I really appreciate that point.

During this internship, I had the opportunity to learn a trade in all its forms and now have a comprehensive understanding of the difficulties that employees can meet and their solutions. I learned about the role of the different departments of the tour operator and how they work together. What are the routes to the market , competitors and the Threats to the Business.

There are so many things to explore and every month I had an appointment with my guardian the Managing Director Andy Beard to review what I have done and what I need to do or see again, It  was a great follow up that allowed me to expand my knowledge.

“I started my six months internship at Greatdays in February 2015 as part of my Bachelor degree in Tourism Management. The main department I was involved in was the UK Day Trips department in which I had to load enquiries onto the booking system, send enquiries to different suppliers and finally confirm the booking to the client. Another task I had was making Driver’s Packs for the UK & Ireland department, i.e. putting together information about the different elements of a tour a group had booked. For some of the groups I also had to put together an itinerary, so they would have concrete and detailed information of their booked tour. Furthermore I got additional tasks from other departments, such as Incoming, Europe, Disney, Sales and Accounts. “All these exercises gave me a good insight of what each department does and how the whole company works as a group tour operator and wholesaler. At the end I also had to create a new Day Trip by myself for next year’s brochure. That meant I had to find out which attractions could be interesting for our target group, figure out the prices, as well as finding a suitable lunch stop and a guide who would lead and inform the groups. Finally my Manager and I went to ‘test’ the whole trip and I put together the brochure text.”

“The first skill I grasped was the importance of time management and working to set deadlines and the impact if they were not met. “I had little office experience and during my internship gained experience in all areas of the business from sales and marketing to tour support. My Internship started in the Disneyland Paris department and this I felt was the product that I would be most interested in selling and had the most knowledge about.”
