This tour brings together the spectacular Cairngorms National Park and the beautiful Spey Valley. Highlights of the tour include a visit to the Highland Folk Museum and a ride on the Strathspey Railway. We also hop aboard a Loch Ness cruise – keep your eyes peeled for Nessie!

Day 1

Travel to Scotland

If you’re travelling a distance, ask about overnight stops.

Day 2

Loch Ness Cruise, Inverness, and Scenic Drive

This morning we travel to Inverness and set sail on a 2-hour contemplation cruise. Boarding at Dochgarroch, our journey takes us along Thomas Telford’s famous Caledonian Canal and across the legendary waters of Loch Ness. We then have free time in Inverness, the cultural capital of the Highlands. This afternoon we take the scenic route back to our hotel, passing through Dava Moor, Grantown-on-Spey, and the Speyside Heather Centre.

 

Day 3

Highland Folk Museum

Today begins with a trip to the visit Highland Folk Museum, a one mile long, 80-acre site, with live actors and restored buildings that help bring Highland history to life.You can step back in time and experience life in the Highlands from 1700s to the 1950s. With over 35 historical buildings onsite for you to explore and discover how people in the Highlands lived, worked, went to school, enjoyed their leisure time.

Day 4

Aviemore and the Strathspey Railway

This morning we take the short journey to Aviemore to enjoy free time in this picturesque mountain retreat. This afternoon we go for a ride on the Strathspey Railway, a heritage steam railway that runs for 10 miles across heather-covered moorland with the Cairngorm Mountains behind.

Day 5

Return home

After breakfast we start our journey home. If your journey allows, call into the delightful town of Pitlochry, also known as the ‘Gateway to the Highlands’.
