Due to its location near the Dutch border, Valkenburg also provides a great base to explore a number of wonderful nearby cities. During your stay, why not discover Maastricht, only a short drive away. Additionally, you can pop across the nearby border to Germany and visit Aachen. Perhaps discover the picturesque town of Monschau and the Eiffel Mountains.

Day 1
Welcome to Valkenburg
Having crossed the Channel, make your way through the beautiful Netherlands to the Hotel Walram for a four nights stay. After settling into your room, head down to the restaurant for dinner followed by a one-hour free bar.
Day 2
At leisure in Valkenburg
Valkenburg, sometimes called ‘Marlstone Town’ because of the lime found in the soil and the soft yellow marlstone which has, since Roman times, been quarried as building material. As a result, there is now a network of over 150 miles of underground corridors beneath the town. Enjoy a visit to these caves (opening varies seasonally). There is plenty to keep you occupied above ground as well, such as the castle ruins and many shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. This evening head to the restaurant for dinner followed by a one-hour free bar.
Day 3
Maastricht sightseeing
Today, head to Maastricht, the southernmost city in the Netherlands, also known as the ‘Paris of the Benelux’. Enjoy a guided walking tour which will show you the prettiest parts of the old city centre including the Stokstraat Quarter, the Basilica of Our Lady, the Ramparts and the parks plus much, much, more. Take some time out to explore the network of underground passageways and vaults beneath the city where a large part of the Netherlands’ art treasures were safeguarded during World War II. We take a river sightseeing cruise for an alternative view of the city. This evening enjoy dinner in the restaurant followed by a one-hour free bar.
Day 4
Three Countries, Aachen and the Eiffel Mountains
Venture to the three countries ‘meeting point’, where Belgium, Holland and Germany come together. Continue to Aachen and enjoy some free time exploring the great old town and its cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Moving on, drive through the stunning scenery of the Eiffel Mountains before spending some time in the picturesque village of Monschau, famous for its half-timbered buildings overlooked by a medieval castle, before returning to Valkenburg. This is your final evening at your hotel in Valkenburg, with dinner and free one-hour bar as well as your ‘Music Night’ – why not take the chance to share memories of the holiday and dance the night away with your fellow holiday makers?
Day 5
Departure
Today, you’ll leave the Hotel Walram. Head back to Calais for your return ferry crossing and continue through the UK to your local area.
