The countries of France, Germany and Switzerland will be explored on this new cruise and will start and finish in the French city of Strasbourg. Explore the spectacular region of the Alsace, cruise south along the Rhine river into Germany and the picturesque little town of Breisach in the Black Forest and onto Basel in Switzerland before making the return journey. There will be some ‘INCLUDED’ excursions to the stunning Alsatian town of Colmar, a visit to the National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse and an incredible journey on the ‘slowest express train in the world’ – the Glacier Express in Switzerland.

Suggested Itinerary
Day 1
Depart the UK
Travel to Dover and take the ferry across to Calais or Dunkerque. Continue to the Reims area for an overnight stop. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.
Day 2
Travel to Strasbourg
Depart after breakfast and continue the journey through France and on to Strasbourg in time for embarkation from 18.00 hours. There will be a welcome cocktail and receptionn before dinner. The ship will sail through the night towards Breisach in Germany.
Day 3
Breisach – Colmar – Basel
We will arrive into Breisach in the early morning. From here, there will be an included excursion to the Alsatian city of Colmar. On a guided tour, discover the picturesque district known as ‘Little Venice’ with its romantic canals, half-timbered buildings and cobblestone streets. See the majestic, Gothic style Saint Martin’s Church and the remarkable Maison des Tetes (named as such because of the 111 heads decorating the facade).
Return to the ship for lunch whilst sailing towards Basel in Switzerland. Relax on board and enjoy the scenery as you sail along. Enjoy dinner an evening of dancing tonight.
Day 4
Basel – Glacier Express Train – Basel
The ship will remain in Basel today (and overnight). The highlight of our tour today is an included one-way journey on board the most famous ‘Slowest Express train the World’ – The Glacier Express. Journey through the Alps from Andermatt to Chur taking you to the most jaw-dropping places in the heart of Switzerland and with unspoilt scenery this really is a picture postcard of Switzerland in a nutshell and definitely not one to be missed! Lunch will either be taken on the train or in a local restaurant.
Return to the ship by coach and enjoy dinner on board this evening.
(Note: This excursion may be operated in reverse and the coach journey is approximately 3.5 hours each way)
Day 5
Basel – Lake Constance – Breisach
For those not wishing to take the optional excursion today, there is the option to visit the National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse (entrance included). This is the largest car museum in the world and traces the history of European cars from 1878 with a collection of historic, vintage and prestigious models. Discover the largest Bugatti collection and an array of Rolls-Royces amongst the exhibits.
Return to the ship for lunch whilst cruising towards Breisach in the afternoon.
Alternatively, an optional full day excursion takes you to Lake Constance and the flower island of Mainau where you can explore the gardens, flowers and floral displays on this island paradise. Lunch will be taken on the island. (Note: the coach journey is approximately 2.5 hours each way). Return to the ship which will be moored in Breisach.
Tonight is our festive Gala Dinner and final evening on board whilst the ship returns to Strasbourg.
Day 6
Disembark in Strasbourg
After breakfast disembark from the ship in Strasbourg and drive north towards the Reims area for an overnight stay. Dinner is included at the hotel.
Day 7
Return to the UK
Depart after breakfast and continue the journey home, taking the ferry from Calais or Dunkerque to Dover
MS MONET (or similar standard ship)
Named after one of the most famous impressionist artists, Claude Monet, this elegant ship sails on the Rhine and the Danube. Cruise passengers will discover the many wonders of both romantic rivers. MS Monet is an intimate-sized standard ship, measuring 110m long and 11.40m wide. It can accommodate 158 passengers, in 78 cabins spread over two decks. Single occupancy cabins can be requested subject to availability. The size of a cabin is 11.50m2 (10m2 for the single cabins), offering amenities and providing guest with all the comforts they need during their stay.
The decoration is refined and the atmosphere is both elegant and welcoming, in perfect harmony with its environment. The restaurant, located on the upper deck, offers fine cuisine in a refined setting. Large windows allow you to fully enjoy the panorama. On the same level there is also the lounge / bar with a dance floor. The sun deck is an ideal place to relax and admire the riverside landscapes and there are comfortable sun loungers as well as a large shaded area.
Cabin information/facilities (CroisiEurope)
All cabins are located above the water level and offer panoramic views of the landscape. They are equipped with private toilet, shower, washbasin and towels. Cabins are comfortable and include Satellite TV, hairdryer, safe and storage space. Depending on the ship, cabins have twin beds, a large bed or 2 separable beds. Voltage on board is 220V. All cabins are air conditioned and have independent thermostat controlled heating and air conditioning. The size and configuration of cabins vary from ship to ship. Some have cabins which are specifically equipped for people with reduced mobility (please ask for further details). There is free Wi-Fi throughout the ship.
