Group Travel Tour Operator and DMC for North Yorkshire
York Highlights
In this tour we focus on the highlights of York city Centre. We combine free time to explore with sightseeing. The York Castle Museum is a must with its carefully constructed Victorian Street replica and World War II exhibitions. The 45 minute cruise means you can while away the time seeing York from a different perspective from the river Ouse. On our final day, we visit York Minster and have free time in the afternoon to explore city walls, the Shambles or the market in the city centre.

Day 2
York Castle Museum and City Cruise
York Castle Museum with an authentically recreated Victorian Street with sweet shop, pharmacy, jail and school room. Volunteers do regular demonstrations and talks to visitors in full costume. It truly transports you to the Victorian era! Housed in another part of the museum, the focus is on the 1940s with World War II exhibitions. The cafe and shops are a great way to end the visit.
A short walk away from the York Castle Museum, we pass the Clifford’s Tower and board a City Cruise for a 45 minute cruise to view York from the River Ouse. The staff sell drinks on board and provide commentary throughout the trip.
Suggested optional extra
National Railway Museum. Large halls house train engines throughout the ages. Shiny, impressive engines dwarf any human being, perfect to spend the afternoon if the weather is rainy. Supplement applies.
Day 3
York Minster and Free time
This morning we visit awe-inspiring York Minster, surely one of the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals in the world with one of the most significant collections of medieval stained glass in the country.
This afternoon, we have time to ourselves for some free time. Don’t miss the remarkable Shambles, York’s most famous street, with overhanging timber-framed buildings, and the ‘snickelways’ that lead off it.
