Black Forest and the High Road
The Black Forest region boasts gentle valleys, waterfalls, spectacular gorges and mountains densely covered with fir and spruce. A quaint area of timber farmhouses, traditional local costume and world famous gâteau, the Schwarzwald is a delightful place to visit. The northern Black Forest region is home to the famous spa town of Baden-Baden.

Day 1
Depart the UK
Travel to Dover and take the short sea crossing to Calais or Dunkerque. Continue towards the Lille area for an overnight stop. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.

Day 2
Travel to the Black Forest
Depart after breakfast and enjoy the breathtaking scenery enroute before arriving in the Black Forest for the next 4 nights. If time permits, begin exploring the local area before dinner in your hotel
Day 3
At Leisure Gengenbach (drivers rest day)
Meet up with a local guide for a walking tour of the historic Old Town, see the half-timbered houses, the medieval Abbey and the largest advent calendar in the world.
After the tour, the rest of the day is at leisure before enjoying dinner at the hotel this evening.
Day 4
Baden-Baden, Mummelsee, the ‘High Road’ and Freudenstadt
The UNESCO listed town of Baden-Baden is renowned for its thermal baths and spas. See the Trinkhalle Pump Room with its Corinthian pillars or take a ride on the Merkur Funicular Railway offering great views over the town. Make a stop at Mummelsee, a large lake, before heading to Freudenstadt which has the biggest market square in Germany and arcades known as the Bögele.
Return to the hotel for dinner and evening at leisure.
Day 5
Black Forest Open Air Museum, Lake Titisee Cruise and Black Forest Gâteau
Experience how people lived and worked in the Black Forest in the past, at the open air museum in Gutach and see old mills, houses and gardens. From here drive to Lake Titisee for a cruise on the lake followed by coffee and Black Forest Gâteau and explore the small lakeside village
Return to the hotel for a final dinner and evening at the hotel.
Day 6
Depart Germany
The time has come to depart the beautiful landscape and delicious tastes of the Black Forest. Begin your homeward journey with a final overnight stay in France. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.
Day 7
Return to the UK
Continue the homeward journey to Calais or Dunkerque and take the ferry across to the UK

Freiburg im Breisgau via the Badische Weinstrasse (Wine Road)
A scenic drive along part of the ‘wine road’ will take you past vineyards and castles to the city of Frieburg. Sitting at the foot of the woody Black Forest slopes, the university town’s cobbled streets stretch from its medieval old town through the vibrant market plazas beside the impressive Freiburg Minster. Discover historical buildings, picturesque alleys and the Bächle in the old town (open streams of crystal clear water flowing through the streets) or visit the farmers market on Minster Square (Monday-Saturday).
