Scenic Alsace, Strasbourg and the Black Forest – NEW TOUR
A tour combining the Champagne region’s capital, Reims, the scenic Alsace and the city of Strasbourg, and the Black Forest region of Germany. France’s north-eastern region of Alsace is notably famous for its’ delicious wines, stunning mountain scenery and medieval towns and villages. The Black Forest is renowned for its evergreen forests, lakes and waterfalls, and picturesque villages.
Strasbourg is a historic town, whose heart is a web of twisting streets and gabled buildings. The town centre, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers plenty in the way of culture and cuisine. Explore La Petite France, a district of timber-framed houses and canals harking back to the city’s medieval trades of tanning and dyeing.

Day 1
Travel to France
Drive to Dover and take the ferry across to France and then continue south to Reims, capital of the Champagne area. Check in at the hotel and enjoy dinner together this evening.
Day 2
Reims – Travel to the Alsace
After breakfast, meet up with a local guide for a walking tour of Reims whose highlights include the UNESCO designated Notre-Dame Cathedral, bigger that it’s more famous name-sake in Paris. Reims is also famous for it’s champagne and familiar houses such as MUMM, Mercier and Moet & Chandon are located in and around the city.
Continue towards the Alsace and our hotel in the Strasbourg area for the next 4 nights. Dinner is at the hotel this evening.
Day 3
Strasbourg by Train (driver’s rest day)
After breakfast and accompanied by a local guide, travel to the city of Strasbourg by local train. This is the capital of the region and centre of the European Parliament. Dominated by its towering Gothic cathedral with its astronomical clock, the pretty canals and medieval half-timbered houses. Enjoy a walking tour and a relaxing river cruise along the meandering River Ill through some of the main tourist sites. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore further before making the return journey by train.
Dinner is at the hotel this evening.
Day 4
Black Forest Highlights (Germany)
Enjoy a panoramic tour by coach of the Black Forest stopping at the picturesque medieval town of Gengenbach. Meet up with a local guide for a walking tour of the old town with it’s half-timbered houses and medieval abbey. Enjoy some free time for lunch before continuing, by coach, to Gutach to experience how people lived and worked at the Black Forest Open Air Museum.
From here, head to the picturesque Lake Titisee and embark on a round-trip lake cruise followed by coffee and some Black Forest Gateau!
Return to the hotel for dinner and evening at leisure
Day 5
Colmar and Mount Saint-Odile
On arrival in Colmar, enjoy a guided tourist train journey around the pretty half-timbered houses and canals before spending some time at leisure exploring this delightful town.
After lunch (not included) continue through the spectacular Vosges Mountains and to the peak of Mount Saint-Odile which offers spectacular views of the Plain of Alsace. Take a stroll around the historical site of Hohenburg Abbey before returning to the hotel for a final dinner and evening at leisure.
Day 6
Depart the Alsace
After breakfast, start the homeward journey north through France making an overnight stop enroute. Dinner will be included at the hotel this evening.
Day 7
Return to the UK
Continue the journey home towards Calais or Dunkirk and take the ferry across to the UK.
