Think of Austria and it conjures up images of snow-capped mountains, tumbling waterfalls and glistening lakes. All this, and more, can be captured on this NEW Austrian Winter Wonderland tour. The highlight of the tour is a journey by train across the breath-taking Arlberg mountain pass. Discover the capital of the Tyrol, Innsbruck, marvel at the crystals of Swarovski Crystal World, watch the skills of the glass-blowers in Rattenberg and join in the thigh-slapping entertainment at a traditional Tyrolean music show. During the festive period between November and January explore the Christmas markets and revel in the yuletide atmosphere.

Day 1 (Sunday)
Depart the UK
Depart from your local area in the UK and make your way to Dover for a ferry crossing over to France. After disembarkation, continue through France and on to Reims/Metz area for an overnight stop. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.
Day 2 (Monday)
Travel to Austria
Depart after breakfast continuing the journey through France and Germany, arriving at your hotel in Austrian Tyrol. After check-in there may be time to relax and check out the hotel and surroundings before having dinner together this evening.
Day 3 (Tuesday)
Innsbruck Sightseeing and Shopping
We will depart late morning for the short drive to the capital of the Tyrol – Innsbruck. With a spectacular backdrop of snow-capped mountains, Innsbruck offers a picture-book old town full of historical heritage. Discover the Imperial Palace and the famous ‘Goldenes Dachl’ (golden roof) which is the symbol of the city. The town is easy to get around on foot and there are plenty of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants to get some lunch. Optional guided walking tours are possible (please ask for details). From mid-November to early January the city is host to several Christmas markets dotted around the streets and squares.
Return to the hotel for dinner and evening at leisure.
Day 4 (Wednesday)
Crystals, Glass and Tyrolean Evening
This morning, enjoy a tour of the world-renowned Swarovski Crystal World and enter into the heart of this crystal empire to be awed by sparkling art. See the Realm of the Giant covered with ornate crystal designs and stroll around 17 Chambers of Wonder, where international artists and designers bring their ideas to life. There is an on-site patisserie, café and shop.
Continue to the nearby medieval ‘Glass Town’ of Rattenberg to watch the mesmerising process of glass-blowing which has long been a traditional craft in the region. After the visit, there may be time to stroll through the town which offers shops, cafes and restaurants. Why not try the local speciality, Apple Strudel or even watch, if time allows, a demonstration on how this famous delicacy is made before returning to the hotel to freshen up before returning to Innsbruck.
Get ready for an evening of typical Tyrolean music and dance at one of the best traditional shows in Europe. Enjoy a pre-show 3-course dinner including 1 drink before enjoying authentic Tyrolean music, folk dancing, ‘shoe slapping’ and yodelling with the Gundolf Family.
Return to the hotel.
Day 5 (Thursday)
Tour Highlight – Alpine Express Train and St. Anton
After breakfast, depart by coach for the village of Oetzal and board the Arlberg Alpine Express Train for a journey of around 1.5 hours through the snow-capped region of the Austrian Alps to Bludenz, passing through mountain scenery, picturesque towns and villages on the way. Bludenz has a charming historical old town with arcades, cafes and restaurants and there will be some free time to get some lunch before making the return journey by coach. En-route a stop will be made in the world famous ski-resort of St. Anton for some free time to explore this iconic Tyrolean village. Surrounded by the Austrian Alps, the village is known for its charming streets, traditional chalets and sweeping mountain views.
Return to the hotel for dinner and evening at leisure.
Day 6 (Friday)
Depart Austria
Depart after breakfast for the homeward journey, stopping overnight once again in the Reims/Metz area. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.
Day 7 (Saturday)
Return to the UK
Continue the homeward journey towards Calais or Dunkerque and take the ferry across to the UK, and home.

Mountain Railway and Cable Car – Top of Innsbruck
Direct from the city centre to Austria’s largest nature park, the Nordkette. Take in the breathtaking 360° view of Innsbruck and the Alps. The journey is done in 3 stages – first by train from the centre of Innsbruck and the next 2 stages by cable car.
Stubaital Valley Tram and Mutteralm Cable Car
A memorable journey by tram from Innsbruck into the scenic Stubai Valley towards the Brenner Pass climbing and winding as you travel through dense forests and over curved viaducts offering breathtaking views including the Bergisel Ski Jump. Enjoy a scenic ride up to the Mutteralm on a modern 8-seater gondola lift from where you can enjoy a marvellous view of the Inntal valley and the surrounding mountains.
