The Peak District is a region of contrasting natural beauty, with moors and dales, rivers and caverns, market towns, pretty villages and historic houses. This tour brings together the best the region has to offer with visits to Chatsworth, Crich Tramway Village, the picturesque villages of Tissington and the market towns of Ashbourne and Bakewell. We also visit Cromford Mills, the centrepiece of the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, and take a boat trip on the Cromford Canal.

Day 2
Castleton, Bakewell and Chatsworth
In the morning we visit Chatsworth, the family home of the Dukes of Devonshire. There are 25 rooms to explore which include the magnificent Painted Hall, regal State Rooms and beautiful Sculpture Gallery. There’s free time to explore the extensive gardens including the historic Cascade, the Victorian rock garden and the maze. In the afternoon we make our way to the market town of Bakewell. The combination of independent shops, cafes, and its location on the River Wye, makes Bakewell a hugely popular destination. It’s also famous for the Bakewell Pudding, the result of a cook misunderstanding a recipe in the 19th century.
Day 3
Crich Tramway Village, Cromford Mill and Cromford Canal Boat Trip
Step back in time today with a visit to Crich Tramway Village. Trams from the on-site National Tramway Museum run through the period village and out to the countryside along a mile-long track. Your ticket includes unlimited rides and entry to the museum. In the afternoon we travel the short distance to Cromford Mills, the centrepiece of the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site. Developed by Richard Arkwright in 1771, Cromford Mill itself was the first water-powered cotton spinning mill and the cradle of the Industrial Revolution. Next we take a 2-hour return boat trip on the Cromford Canal with a guided commentary.
Day 4
Tissington, Ashbourne and Carsington Water
This morning we travel through the National Park to Tissington, a perfect picture-book village and the centre of Derbyshire’s world famous Well Dressing festival. We visit Tissington Hall, the splendid Jacobean residence that has been the home of the FitzHerbert family for more than 400 years. Our final stop is in the old market town of Ashbourne with more than 200 listed buildings, fine coaching inns and mellow bricked town houses. You may also choose to visit nearby Carsington Water Visitor Centre, renowned for its variety of activities, shops, places to eat and things to see and do.
