Meet your guide in the centre of Canterbury.

Canterbury

Upon arrival at Canterbury, your guide will bring the wonderful historic past of this fine city to life: from riotous rebellions to plagues and pilgrims, from saints to scholars, from archbishops to architecture, and of course the famous Canterbury Tales, the tour will trace the development of the city from pre-historic times. Furthermore, learn why Christmas lunch was confiscated in days gone by, discover the origins of Rupert Bear, and take in the largest surviving city gate in England plus much more.

Lunch at The Foundry

Enjoy a two-course lunch with tea at this local brewhouse, set in the heart of Canterbury.

(Please note that the restaurant is only accessible by stairs.)

Canterbury River Tour

As with many cities, Canterbury was founded and thrived because of its river. The land on which the city is now built is where the River Stour forms a series of islands. It was the easiest place for the Romans to find a crossing on their travel from the continent to London. On the 26th of March, 1932 the first river tour departed from the Black Friars Monastery under the name Canterbury Friars Ferry’ with local residents and dignitaries gathering to celebrate the event. The 40 minute tour has proved popular ever since. Relax and enjoy the ride!
(Please note the boats are uncovered.)
