Enjoy many of the on-board facilities that the cruise ships have to offer, including en-suite cabin accommodation, eateries, cafes, restaurants, bars and some even have entertainment. These tours include a full day ashore for sightseeing. The cruise ferries are operated by P&O Ferries, DFDS Seaways and Stena Line. Think of Holland and you automatically think of cheese, windmills, clogs and tulips. This ‘Holland in a Nutshell’ day trip will highlight many of these on a visit to the beautiful medieval city of Gouda. With its beautiful façades, canals, courtyards and one of the most iconic cheese markets in the world, Gouda is truly a charming and authentically Dutch city. From local beers and ceramics to stroopwafels and, of course, the world-famous Gouda Cheese: you can see and learn all about these fantastic products in Gouda.
At Kinderdijk you will get the opportunity to visit museums inside working windmills where millers tell their stories, take a boat trip or an optional guided tour. All the mills, pumps, dikes, and storage basins work together to literally keep their heads above water. That is how this characteristic and deeply Dutch landscape came about.

Prepare for disembarkation early morning and take a leisurely drive to Gouda, famous for its cheese. Meet up with a local guide for a walking tour along the pretty cobbled streets and canals and admire the golden-stained glass windows of the grand church – Sint Janskerk. Make sure not to miss the city hall in the middle of the Markt square. It’s the oldest Gothic city hall in the Netherlands and looks like something straight out of a fairytale. For lunch why not try a traditional Gouda Cheese sandwich with fries followed by a stroopwafel, and maybe a Dutch beer!
From here travel to Kinderdijk, a village known for its iconic 18th century windmills. This UNESCO site features 19 mills and 3 pumping stations, plus dikes and reservoirs that control flooding. There is a visitors centre and museums located in some of the preserved working windmills.
