Liverpool and Albert Dock
Today we head into Liverpool for a full day to explore this remarkable city. Albert Dock, Albert Dock is one of Britain’s top heritage attractions, situated in a spectacular riverside setting as part of Liverpool’s UNESCO designated World Heritage Site.part of Liverpool’s waterfront UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to a number of award-winning visitor attractions, including The Beatles Story, Merseyside Maritime Museum and Tate Liverpool. A trip on one of the famous Mersey Ferries is a must, if only to see Liverpool’s spectacular waterfront in all its glory. For shoppers, LiverpoolONE is the city’s newest and grandest shopping centre.
‘Iron Men’, Southport and WWT Martin Mere
This morning we travel to Crosby beach to see Anthony Gormley’s world famous ‘Another Place’, 100 iron men sculptures that face towards the sea. We continue to Southport to discover Lord Street, a Victorian canopied boulevard with a charming, unique style all of its own. Don’t miss Wayfarers Shopping Arcade, a Grade II listed building opened in 1898 that boasts a stunning glass-domed roof, impressive period décor and more than 30 exclusive stores, and stroll along the UK’s second longest pier with a traditional penny arcade at the end. In the afternoon we travel to WWT Martin Mere, a wetland nature reserve with a worldwide collection of birds cared for and displayed by continent. Take a 30-minute electric boat cruise through the wetlands for a peaceful and unusual tour.
