Denmark and Sweden – Cities, Castles and Vikings
People often describe Copenhagen as ‘the happiest city in the world’. During this tour you are sure to find out why! The home of ‘hygge’ – a Danish concept meaning cosiness and friendliness, this city will charm and leave you with some amazing memories. Brimming with amazing parks and bicycles filling the streets, Copenhagen is one of the greenest cities in the world. This, combined with its award-winning cuisine and impressive sights, means it is no wonder the city is becoming increasingly popular with visitors from around the world.
Denmark’s capital is both modern and historic, boasting innovative design perfectly contrasted with grand palaces dating back centuries. In fact, Denmark’s monarchy is the oldest in the world! During your stay, the city’s most famous sites like the colourful Nyhavn harbour and the Little Mermaid statue are not to be missed. Take in the amazing culture on offer, all while being a part of Copenhagen’s unique and fun atmosphere.
Although famous for its innovation, Copenhagen also has a variety of beautiful landmarks on its doorstep where you can learn more about Denmark’s rich history. Journey out of the city to Kronborg Castle, the grand setting of Shakespeare’s epic play Hamlet. Additionally, travel north to visit the beautiful Frederiksborg Castle, one of Europe’s grandest renaissance castles. Going back even further, watch history come to life at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. Here you will learn all about Scandinavia’s fascinating heritage and where the Vikings began.
