Day 1

Travel to your hotel

If time permits, why not stop off somewhere interesting during the journey. The Greatdays team can offer suggestions.

Day 2

Tour of Exmoor National Park, Lynton and Lynmouth

Our visit to Devon starts in the north with a leisurely drive through the spectacular Exmoor National Park. We arrive at Lynton and Lynmouth, often referred to as ‘Little Switzerland’. A popular destination for Victorian holidaymakers, the two towns are connected by a cliff railway opened in 1890.

Day 3

River Cruise and Sidmouth

This morning we travel south to Exmouth for a relaxing 1 hour cruise along the calm and sheltered waters of the River Exe. A live commentary explains the history of the area, the sights and the wildlife. We then travel the short distance to the regency town of Sidmouth described by poet laureate, John Betjeman, as “A town caught still in a timeless charm”.

Day 4

Powderham Castle and Exeter

The home of the Earl and Countess of Devon, Powderham Castle, near Exeter, is a fortified manor house enjoying a unique, picturesque setting within an ancient deer park. A private guided tour will reveal the 600 years of history of one of Devon’s oldest family homes. We then travel to Exeter where there’s free time to admire the magnificent cathedral, one of England’s finest, or perhaps discover the underground passages beneath the High Street and the Quayside walks, or simply wander among the many quaint streets and shops.

Day 5
