Chester and cruise on the River Dee

Today we visit the historic city of Chester starting with a relaxing half hour river cruise (with commentary) on the River Dee. The rest of the day is then free to explore all that the city has to offer. Don’t miss ‘The Rows’, the 700-year-old, two-tiered shopping galleries with an array of independent and high street names. The city is home to the most complete City Walls in Britain dating from the Roman occupation 2,000 years ago built to protect the city. Today you can take the 2 mile walk of the walls and admire the beautiful heritage of Chester. The world famous Eastgate Clock was built to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. Climb the steps alongside the clock to walk along the The Eastgate Clock – one of the most photographed in the world – built to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897 most complete city walls in Britain, dating from the Roman occupation.

This morning we travel onto the Wirral peninsula to visit Ness Botanic Gardens, a beautiful 64-acre garden created in 1898 by a wealthy cotton broker from Liverpool. Included is a 45-minute visit to the fascinating Port Sunlight Museum followed by a one-hour guided tour of the village by coach.
