Suggested itinerary by coach

Day 1

Depart the UK

Drive to Dover and take the ferry across to Calais/Dunkerque.  Continue through France and towards the Reims area for an overnight stop.  Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.

Day 2

Travel to Fondo

Depart after breakfast and continue the journey across France, via Strasbourg, and into Switzerland passing Basle and Zurich before crossing the border into Northern Italy and the resort of Fondo.  After check-in there may be time to explore before having dinner together in the hotel this evening.

Day 3

At leisure (driver’s rest day)

Relax and enjoy the facilities of the hotel and resort. Fondo lies amongst incomparable natural beauty overlooked by the majestic rock faces of the mountains. Maybe take a stroll along a narrow gorge, known as the Burrone walk, which connects the centre of the town to Lake Smereldo (weather permitting, of course).

Dinner is at the hotel this evening.

Day 4

Trento or Bolzano Sightseeing (guided tours can be arranged)

Trento:  Dominated by the mighty Monte Bondone, Trento is a magnificent city of art and culture and regarded as one of the most attractive in the region.  See the spectacular Piazza del Duomo, which was once used by the Romans as their forum,  the gothic cathedral, Neptune’s fountain, the historic Castle of Buonconsiglio and Cesare Battisti Mausoleum.  Spend free time shopping and further sightseeing.

Bolzano:  The capital of the Alto Adige and the Cathedral (Bolzano Duomo) is well worth a visit or see Ötzi the Iceman, a Copper Age mummy, on display in the archaeological museum.  Explore the specialist shops whilst browsing for souvenirs and see the main sights such as the statue of Walther von der Vogelweide on Walther Square and the Bolzano Victory Monument.

Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening at leisure.

Day 5

Panoramic Dolomites and Madonna di Campaglio

The majestic mountains beckon on a scenic drive of the Trentino Dolomites with a visit to the famous ski resort of Madonna di Campaglio, set in dense pine forests and towered over by breathtaking mountains.  It is one of the most famous resorts in the region and a skiers paradise.

After some free time and lunch continue to Andalo which is located on a plateau and another popular winter sports and tourist resort in the heart of the Trentino mountains. Take a stroll or maybe an optional horse-drawn sleigh/carriage ride or a ride on the little tourist train to discover the ancient farms and typical rural dwellings (all seasonal operation and subject to availability)

Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening at leisure.

Day 6

Merano Sightseeing (full or half day)

A scenic drive to Merano, a vibrant spa town characterized by spacious parks and botanical gardens overlooked by Glacial snow-covered peaks.  Stroll around the historic centre and along the medieval arcades of the Laubengasse, amble along the ‘Passeggiata’ a promenade that stretches along the Passirio River and where elegant buildings such as the Kurhaus and the Puccini Theatre can be found. (Optional guided walking tours available)

Return to the hotel for our final evening and dinner.
