Day 2
Cruise on Loch Katrine and Glengoyne Distillery
Today’s excursion takes us deep into the spectacular scenery of The Trossachs. Our first stop is the pretty town of Calendar. We continue to Loch Katrine for a one-hour cruise aboard the steamship ‘ss Sir Walter Scott’. In the afternoon we travel via the Dukes Pass to visit Glengoyne Distillery for a tour of the whisky making process, and a tasting of ‘a wee dram’ (or two).
Day 3
The Falkirk Wheel and Stirling Castle
Something different today with a visit to the Falkirk Wheel, the world’s only rotating boat lift. We take a boat trip to experience this engineering marvel. In the afternoon we visit Stirling Castle, Scotland’s ‘Royal’ castle. A private guided tour of the refurbished rooms of the Royal Court is followed by free time.
Day 4
Loch Lomond and Inveraray
This morning we take the road along the ‘Bonnie’ banks of Loch Lomond to travel to Inverary, located in a picturesque setting on Loch Fyne. We visit the imposing Inveraray Castle, followed by the 19th century Inveraray Jail, one of the finest and best-preserved jail and courtroom complexes in the world. Costumed characters bring the past to life in this unique living museum. In the afternoon we return to the beautiful Loch Lomond for a relaxing one hour circular cruise from Tarbet
Day 5
Return home
We say fond farewells to Scotland as we travel home admiring our final glimpse of Scottish scenery.
