Day 1
Travel to your hotel
If you’re travelling a distance, ask about overnight stops.
Day 2
Loch Ness
Today we travel to Loch Ness, the second largest Scottish loch after Loch Lomond. We take a one-hour Jacobite cruise to see if we can catch a glimpse of ‘Nessie’, the famous Loch Ness monster, and to see the 14th century ruins of Urquhart Castle. At the southern tip of the loch is Fort Augustus where there’s time to explore the town, watch the boats navigating the locks at the start of the Caledonian Canal, or explore the Clansmen Centre, where costumed guides demonstrate 17th century clan weaponry.
Day 3
Eilean Donan Castle and Skye
This morning we take a leisurely and outstandingly scenic journey towards the Isle of Skye. We thread our way between lochs and mountains to reach Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most recognised castles in Scotland. The views across to the Cuillin mountain range of Skye and along Loch Duich towards the dramatic Five Sisters of Kintail are simply magnificent. We cross the Skye Bridge to Kyleakin before retracing our steps to Inverness.
Day 4
The Black Isle
A shorter journey today as we cross the Moray Firth to the Black Isle. We visit Cromarty, a sleepy fishing village distinguished by its Georgian merchant houses and quaint fishermen’s cottages. We return to Inverness where there’s free time to visit Inverness Castle and explore medieval Church Street, home to the town’s oldest-surviving buildings.
Day 5
Return home
Say farewell to the Highlands and begin your journey home.
