Day 1
Travel to your hotel
Depending on where you are travelling from, why not stop off at Springfields Outlet Centre. Time to relax and settle in the hotel before dinner.
Day 2
Sandringham and Norfolk Lavender
This morning we travel to Sandringham House, the much-loved country retreat of the Royal family. A highlight is the opportunity to see the actual rooms where the family spends time when they are in residence. Don’t miss the fascinating museum and the collection of vintage and recently retired royal motor cars. We then travel the short distance to Norfolk Lavender, famous for its gardens, oil distillery, national lavender collection and herb garden.
Day 3
The “Poppy Line” and Cromer
Today we head to the picturesque north Norfolk coast. Our first stop is the bustling seaside town and holiday resort of Cromer where there’s plenty of time to explore the narrow twisting street or take a walk along the pier for a cuppa in the Pavilion Theatre. In the afternoon we take a 10-mile round trip on the North Norfolk Railway. This heritage railway is known as the ‘Poppy Line’, a description given to the railway because of the many fields of poppies the line passes through.
Day 4
Holkham Hall
This morning, we visit Holkham Hall.
Nestled within 25 acres of rolling parkland, Holkham Hall is an 18th century Palladian style house, based on designs by William Kent and built by Thomas Coke, 1st Earl of Leicester. The current Earl and his family take great pride in opening their doors and sharing the treasures within.
You’ll find the Marble Hall a truly breath-taking introduction to your visit, with its impressive 50ft dome ceiling and elegant walls of English alabaster – not marble as the name suggests!
A grand staircase leads to a myriad of state rooms, from the Saloon with its rich, red walls, gilded coffering, and lofty ceiling; to many sumptuous bedchambers where royalty once laid, state dining rooms adorned with exquisite porcelain, galleries of statuary and art by the Old Masters, libraries bursting with books and manuscripts and of course, the Old Kitchen with its rows of polished copper pots, pans, and moulds.
This afternoon is free to explore the city of Norwich at your leisure
