Porto is Portugal’s second largest city built on the right bank of the river Douro and is symbolised by the six bridges that connect both sides of the river. It is also famous for its Port wine and a visit to one of the local cellars is not to be missed. The city’s riverside is lined with excellent restaurant, bars and cafés.

Day 1
Depart the UK.
Fly directly to Porto where you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel for three nights.
Day 2
Porto Sightseeing and Port Wine Tasting.
A half day city sightseeing tour will highlight the main attractions including the 12th century cathedral, the Stock Exchange Palace and the old historical centre with its well-preserved buildings on the Avenida dos Aliado. Crossing the river to Vila Nova de Gaia, a visit to Graham’s Port Wine Cellar is included, together with a tasting of their excellent port. The rest of the day is free to explore. A river cruise is a popular way to see the city from a different perspective.
Day 3
Braga and Guimares (Optional).
An excursion by coach to Bom Jesus do Monte, a baroque church with a glorious stairway of granite and white plaster and one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in Portugal, which is just outside the town of Braga, known as the Portuguese Rome, and one of the oldest towns and the religious capital of Portugal. Continue to Guimaraes, a town of small squares, cobbled streets, gardens and an imposing 10th century castle. Alternatively, spend another day in Porto to explore further.
Day 4
Return to the UK.
Dependant on the flight departure time, there may be some time for last minute shopping/sightseeing before being transferred to the airport for the flight back to the UK.
