The City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, is a city steeped in American history. Gain deeper insight into this city’s history of bold revolutionaries, symbolised by the Liberty Bell and the UNESCO world heritage site, Independence Hall. For any ‘Philly’ first timer, these are must sees. However, history is not the only thriving entity in this cultural hub. Craft distilleries in the Philadelphia region are absolutely booming, therefore, assisting Pennsylvania return to prominence in the national distilling conversation. Why not tour Philly’s first post-Prohibition distillery? It’s a fantastic experience and it offers a full bar and restaurant with an outdoor patio and tasting room.

With a visit to the Museum of Art, you will get the chance to see the legendary Rocky statue. Perhaps embark on your own jog up the stairs, pumping your fists in the air while cherishing the spectacular view. This will be a memorable and perhaps motivational aspect of your trip. Another iconic Philly experience is devouring a Philly cheese steak, unarguably the city’s most famous food! But don’t stop there! Philly’s appetite is endless and a visit to the Reading Terminal Market, the impeccable indoor foodie paradise is essential. An almost unbelievable one-stop shop for everything from local produce and meats to artisan cheeses and desserts, this market is a mouth-watering affair

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Philadelphia

Arrive in Philadelphia and transfer to your hotel. Why not start your trip off properly with a Philly cheese steak night? Indisputably the city’s most famous food, these steak, cheese and fried onion sandwiches are an iconic part of the Philly experience.

Day 2

Historical Philly

Philadelphia is abundant in historical attractions, but the most significant is Independence Hall. There, the founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence and state representatives met to develop the foundation of the US Constitution. Overlooking this is the Liberty Bell. Originally used to call the Pennsylvania Assembly to meetings, it was adopted as a symbol by abolitionists, suffragists and Civil Rights advocates and it remains an important symbol today. Then head to Reading Terminal Market, a foodie paradise full of local produce and artisan cheeses and desserts. Perhaps explore with the Hop on Hop off bus or enjoy a private guided tour.

Day 3

Museum of Art & Philadelphia Distillery

The Museum of Art is Philadelphia’s premier cultural institution, with marvellous collections of art spanning centuries. Admire creations from the Renaissance and modern works by artists such as Matisse. The building itself, which looks much like a temple, is recognised around the globe for its part in the film Rocky. Perhaps run up the stairs to the museum, just like Rocky, or have your photo taken with the bronze Rocky statue.

After this cultural morning, visit Philadelphia Distilling, the city’s first distillery after Prohibition. It employs hand-hammered copper stills and wooden fermentation vessels to create batches of Bluecoat American Dry Gin, Blue Coat Barrel Finished Gin, Vieux Carré Absinthe, Penn 1681 Vodka and THE BAY Seasoned Vodka.

Day 4

Philly Distillery Trail

Until Prohibition wiped out the state’s industry, Pennsylvania was home to the United States’ greatest concentration of homespun and commercial whiskey producers, beginning with some of the country’s earliest Settlers. Pennsylvania is now reclaiming its prominent place in the nation’s distilling scene. Artisan distillers proudly produce and sell small-batch spirits, offering tours of their sites. Discover the booming industry.

Day 5

Departure

The time has come to leave Philadelphia behind. Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
