Rail

Arrive at Haverthwaite Station for your trip on the Lakeside Haverthwaite steam railway to Windermere. The Furness Railway was developed during the 1850s and 1860s, at the height of the Industrial Revolution, in order to transport the coal and iron ore deposits from mines in the coastal areas of Cumberland and the Furness district of Lancashire to the heavy industries of the North West and North East of England. Enjoy this short journey in vintage style. When the whistle blows, nothing can beat the sound of the engine and the smell of the steam.

Sail

Enjoy a 40 minute Yellow Cruise northward from Lakeside to Bowness on Lake Windermere. Each cruise includes a fascinating commentary on the history, attractions and points of interest surrounding Windermere.

Lunch

A short walk from the pier is the Beatrix Potter Old Laundry Theatre. Available for private bookings only, you can enjoy a two course lunch with tea and coffee in this unique space.

Cotton tails

No visit to the lakes is complete without a visit to this charming dedication to the famous children’s author Beatrix Potter. The Lake District’s natural beauty and abundant wildlife inspired Beatrix Potter to write her much-loved stories. Come and explore this wonderful landscape where the tales are brought to life. After your visit there will be time to explore the many quaint tea rooms and cafes that Bowness has to offer. The main street is quite steep but the pier is flat and offers relaxing views over the lake. Your coach can collect you from the pier for your journey home.
