5 day tour
From £339 per person - minimum 25 passengers

Holland’s most beautiful Christmas market takes place in the historic centre of The Hague where you will see dozens of Christmas houses, thousands of LED lights, atmospheric fires, mulled wine and an almost daily visit from the one and only Santa Claus.

During the dark winter months of December and January, the open-air light exhibition ‘Light Festival Amsterdam‘ transforms the Amsterdam canals into a unique canvas for light art with more than 20 wondrous works of art on show on a route along Amsterdam’s canals which can be enjoyed during a dinner cruise.

A visit will also be made to the Royal pottery in Delft which will be festively decorated and where you will see the craftsmen and women at work.

December 2026

Suggested Itinerary by coach

Day 1

Depart the UK

Take the overnight cruise ferry from the UK to Holland.  After embarkation and you have checked into your en-suite cabin,  there will be plenty of time to explore the ship with its many facilities including bars, cafes, restaurants and entertainment.

Day 2

Royal Delft and the Royal  Christmas Market, The Hague

After disembarkation, make the short drive to nearby Delft for a visit to the factory museum of Royal Delft Blue Pottery where you can see the production process and admire the craftsmanship of the artists as they paint the high quality porcelain. At the end of the tour there is the option to make some festive purchases from their on site Christmas shop.  Return to The Hague in the afternoon and check-in at the hotel.

The Royal Christmas Fair usually opens in the afternoon but the best time to see the lights and get into the festive spirit is early evening as it is going dark.  It is located in the historic heart of The Hague on one of the most beautiful avenues in the Netherlands.

With dozens of cosy, attractively decorated Christmas chalets with quality products and goods, thousands of LED lights, atmospheric fires, mulled wine, food stalls and an almost daily visit from the one and only Santa Claus, this Christmas market is a real highlight. There are special programmes with Christmas choirs, storytellers, children’s activities and musical performances which also makes this Christmas market well worth a visit and entrance is free!

There are plenty of places to get something to eat and drink.

(The market is open daily from 12.00noon – 9.00pm from 03 – 23 December 2026 subject to confirmation)

Day 3

Amsterdam and Light Festival Dinner Cruise

Depart after breakfast for a full day to enjoy and explore this cosmopolitan city, stroll along the tree-lined canals and preserved 17th century gabled houses.  During the day, Amsterdam has plenty to offer.  It is awash with museums and galleries for those with an interest in art such as the incomparable Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank’s House or the Rijksmuseum. Or why not engage in a Heineken experience?

In the early evening Amsterdam becomes even more alive with its Light Festival.   Board a luxury canal boat for a 2 hour dinner cruise along the iconic canals whilst admiring the glittering spectacle of art and light.  The festival showcases breathtaking light installations by artists from around the world which are placed along Amsterdam’s historic waterways, creating a magical experience that is best enjoyed by boat.

Return to the hotel by coach.

The light festival usually takes place each evening from end November – mid January (2026/2027 dates to be confirmed)

Day 4

At leisure in the Hague/Return to the UK

After breakfast, the morning will be free to explore The Hague, perhaps take a walking tour or visit one of the many museums including the Mauritshuis Museum with its unique collection of Old Masters or the fascinating Panorama Mesdag Museum with the largest circular canvas painting in Europe.  Perhaps you may want to wander around the shops and make some last minute Christmas gift purchases to take home.

In the afternoon, drive back to the port and board the cruise-ferry for the overnight crossing back to the UK. Once again, there will be time to enjoy the many on-board facilities.

Day 5

Arrival in the UK
