Day 1
Travel to Brittany via Normandy
Drive to Dover and take the ferry crossing to Calais or Dunkerque and continue to the Normandy area for an overnight stop. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.
Day 2
Travel to Vannes via Saint-Malo and Dinan
Depart after breakfast and drive to the port of St. Malo for a stroll around the old town before heading to Dinan, one of the oldest medieval towns in Brittany, and then on to Vannes for the next 4 nights.
After check-in there may be time to relax before enjoying dinner together at the hotel this evening.
Day 3
Vannes Sightseeing (driver’s rest day)
Meet up with a local guide for a walking tour of Vannes, a fortified and preserved town with a wealth of architectural heritage, cobbled streets lined with intriguing granite sculptures and half-timbered houses. After the tour the rest of the day is at leisure with the option to take a boat trip around the islands and Gulf of Morbihan.
Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening at leisure.
Day 4
Carnac and the Quiberon Peninsula
Carnac is a fashionable resort famous for its sandy beaches, standing stones and historical treasures such as the village of Saint Colomban with its granite houses, beachfront villas and the town centre with its 17th-century church.
The Quiberon Peninsula has a spectacular rugged coast to the west and beautiful sandy beaches to the east. See the charming picture postcard Breton villages with narrow streets lined with white houses.
Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening at leisure.
Day 5
Quimper and Concarneau
The Breton town of Quimper has a large historic centre and is famed for its long history of pottery making, its timber framed buildings and the impressive Cathedral. There is also a covered market which is open Monday-Saturday.
Continue to the historic, walled town of Concarneau, located in one of the most beautiful bays in Brittany where you can stroll around the old town, ancient ramparts and fishing port.
Return to Vannes for a final dinner and evening in the hotel.
Day 6
Mont Saint-Michel and Rouen (overnight stop)
On the return journey, make a stop at the imposing Mont Saint-Michel, one of France’s most iconic attractions and one of the most recognisable and stunning landmarks. The Mont Saint-Michel remains a must see for anyone wanting to experience a ‘magical’ island residing in a medieval monastery. Because of efforts to preserve the islands astonishing surrounds, the only gateway to the island is via ‘Passeurs’, ultra modern shuttle busses that take you directly to the mount. Once arrived, you can travel all the way to Benedictine Abbey and take in the dramatic and astonishing view of the French Coastline.
Continue to the Rouen area for an overnight stay including dinner at the hotel this evening.
Day 7
Return to the UK.
Depart after breakfast and continue to Calais or Dunkerque for the ferry across to the UK.
