Southwest Scotland Coastlines and the New Galloway Forest
Southwest Scotland has many beautiful villages and small towns just waiting for you to discover plus the pretty coastlines of Wigtown and Luce Bay. Enjoy the scenic New Galloway Forest park with undulating scenery, villages and towns nestled along the coastline and rich in history, often bypassed in favour of the Highlands. On this tour explore the scenic routes along with visits to Culzean Castle, Robert Burns museum and visitor centre, Logan Botanical Gardens and the wonderful Coos and Ewes to see these beautiful cattle in their natural surroundings, this all adds to make an interesting tour in this pretty part of Scotland. You may wish to include a visit to the Devil’s Porridge museum enroute home on your return day. Optional extra. Traditional Christmas dinner and a glass of mulled wine will be included on the November date at the hotel.

Day 1
Travel to Stranraer
Arrive at your hotel on the shores of Loch Ryan for your first taste of Scottish hospitality. Ample time to settle in to your rom before dinner is served.
Day 2
Culzean Castle and Robert Burns Birthplace Museum
A morning visit to Culzean Castle, one of Scotland’s most popular visitor attractions. A private tour will be followed by time to explore the extensive grounds. In the afternoon visit the birthplace of the poet Robert ‘Robbie’ Burns. See the cottage where he was born, and the Brig o’ Doon, the original 15th century bridge which provided the setting for Tam o’ Shanter, one of Burns poems’.y the river Nith.
Day 3
New Galloway Forest Park, Wigtown Bay and Kitchen Coos and Ewes
A scenic tour today travelling along the pretty coastline of Wigtown Bay, stop off’s in the small towns of Newton Stewart and Castle Douglas, with time to enjoy a coffee in one of the tea shops. Travel through the New Galloway Forest Park established in 1947 it is claimed to be the largest forest in the UK covering 774 square kilometres. The highlight of today will be a visit to Kitchen Coos and Ewes an authentic guided farm experience with the opportunity to get up close to the iconic Highland Cows on the hill from the safety of a purpose built safari trailer. You will also enjoy a sheepdog demonstration and hear about the animals and their heritage. On your return from seeing the animals there will be tea, coffee and homemade traybakes served in the bothy before returning to the hotel.
Day 4
Logan Botanical Gardens, the Mull of Galloway and pretty Portpatrick
A scenic morning drive along the shores of Luce Bay takes you to Drummore close to the most south westerly tip of Scotland, The Mull of Galloway. A stop will be made at the Gaille Craig coffee house for coffee and cake before visiting Logan Botanical gardens one of Scotland’s most exotic gardens. Explore fascinating plant treasures from South/Central America and Southern Africa. A short amount of time will be enjoyed in the small harbour town of Portpatrick to end the day.
Day 5
Return home
After a full Scottish breakfast return home. Why not make a visit to the Devil’s Porridge Museum for lunch and a tour of this very interesting small museum on the outskirts of Annan. Supplement applies for entrance and lunch. Please enquire.
