Eel Pie Island Museum

Arrive at this fantastic museum dedicated to the history of Eel Pie Island. The island became a haven for musicians during the late 50s and 60s British jazz and blues scene that provided the backbone for the success of rock and roll legends like The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and The Who. The museum is packed to the rafters with memorabilia from those who lit up the island’s hotel ballroom, including the aforementioned artists and many more.

The museum also recounts other local history such as the life and times of wind-up radio inventor Trevor Baylis and Eel Pie Island’s boatyards and their contribution to the evacuation of Dunkirk.

Access to the island itself is strictly for residents only.

Lunch at the Eel Pie Pub, Twickenham

The pub, the hotel and the island all take their names from the popularity of the eel pies served to day-tripping 19th century Londoners who would come down by paddle steamer to the Eel Pie Hotel.

Nowadays, the pub is a contemporary twist on the classic English pub, celebrating rugby and music while serving an enticing mix of traditional pub and modern favourites.

Tales tour to Richmond

Your expert music and history guide will join you after lunch to escort your group to Richmond Green via coach. This attractive drive goes over Richmond Bridge, showing off some of London’s most striking views over the River Thames and the Georgian style embankment.

Head to the site of the Crawdaddy Club and relive West London’s swinging sixties. Among our favourite of Richmond’s little secrets is what Mick Jagger said to Paul McCartney when they met for the very first time right here in Richmond. We won’t tell you, you’ll have to take the tour to find out.
