Located in the east of Switzerland, the canton of Graubunden is home to many famous Alpine resorts including Klosters, St. Moritz and Davos, where this tour is based. Davos is the highest city in Europe and also the largest alpine mountain holiday destination in Switzerland. It is also host to the World Economic Forum.

Day 1
Depart the UK
Drive to Dover and take the ferry across to Calais or Dunkerque. Continue south through France, making an overnight stop in the Reims area. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.
Day 2
Travel to Switzerland
Depart after breakfast and continue the journey south, crossing the border into Switzerland and the resort of Davos for the next 5 nights. Check-in at the hotel and relax before enjoying dinner together this evening.
Day 3
Free day in Davos / Visit ‘Royal’ Klosters (driver’s rest day)
Using the Davos Card you can travel on the Schatzalpbahn mountain railway (at a 50% reduced price) up to the famous and legendary Hotel Schatzalp, a beautiful art nouveau building. Enjoy the views whilst having drink or something to eat on the terrace or take a stroll around the nearby Alpine Garden (open mid-May to end-Oct/entrance free with Davos Card).
Back in Davos, and again using the Davos Card (for free), take the local train to nearby Klosters, a renowned world-famous ski resort and a favourite of the Royal Family. Despite this the town has remained authentic with pretty chalets and a village centre with boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Return to Davos by train.
Dinner is at the hotel this evening.
Day 4
HIGHLIGHT – Bernina Express
Using the ‘free’ Davos Card, board the local train in Davos for the short journey to Filisur. From here, join the famous Bernina Express Train for an unforgettable journey through wonderful mountain scenery across the border to Italy and the mountain resort of Tirano. Enjoy one of Europe’s greatest railway journeys with panoramic seating and uninterrupted Alpine views of the lakes, valleys and glaciers with loops and tunnels along the way. Do not forget your camera!
There will be time to get some lunch in Tirano, a town of charming streets and traditional buildings including the pilgrimage site of Santuario della Madonna di Tirano with a stunning Baroque church. Return to Davos by coach travelling via the famous Bernina Pass giving a lasting memory of an unforgettable day.
Dinner is at the hotel this evening.
Day 5
Medieval Chur and the Arosa Mountain Railway
Chur is the oldest city in Switzerland. Take a stroll around the car-free cobblestoned streets admiring the medieval architecture. Between small alleyways, the castle, the cathedral and lively markets, it offers cozy cafes and many shops. After some free time to explore and lunch enjoy a scenic round trip journey along the Arosa line railway to Arosa. Starting at a leisurely pace, as a tram, the train meanders through the streets of Chur passing the city walls, the Maltese Tower and the Upper Gate when the red train turns into a mountain railway steeply ascending through mountain landscapes and crossing the famous Langwieser viaduct high above the river Plessur before arriving at Arosa and making the return journey down to Chur where the coach will be waiting. (The railway journey takes approximately 1 hour each way).
Return to the hotel by coach for dinner and an evening at leisure.
Day 6
Chic St. Moritz and Albula Railway Museum
St. Moritz really needs no introduction – an elegant and glamorous lakeside resort world-renowned mainly for its winter sports and the famous Cresta Bob Sleigh run plus the fact that it is the sunniest resort in Switzerland. Shopping is a favourite pastime and a visit to the Segantini Museum, perched on a small hill at the entrance to the town, is also worthwhile (entrance payable locally)
From here, drive to the picturesque village of Bergün and visit the Albula Railway Museum to learn about the history of the Rhaetian Railway with over 600 exhibits and more than 100 years of railway history including how the spiral tunnels and viaducts were constructed. See layouts, models, historical plans and documents that tell the story of how the Albula line was built.
Return to Davos with free time to relax and perhaps explore the town further before dinner at the hotel this evening.
Day 7
Depart Switzerland
Depart after breakfast for the homeward journey travelling north towards the Reims/Metz area of France for an overnight stay. Dinner is included at the hotel.
Day 8
Return to the UK
Depart after breakfast, continuing north to Calais or Dunkerque and take the ferry across to the UK, and home.
