Waterford City and Waterford Crystal
This morning we enjoy a guided walking tour of Waterford, the oldest city in Ireland. We visit the world-famous House of Waterford Crystal for a guided factory tour. There’s free time to explore the city’s cultural and heritage quarter including the ‘Viking Triangle’ that contains three magnificent museums: the Medieval Museum; Bishop’s Palace; and Reginald’s Tower.
Waterford, Suir Valley Railway and Dunbrody Famine Ship Experience
Something a little different today as we take a ride on the delightful Waterford & Suir Valley Railway along the picturesque banks of the River Suir. Afterwards we visit the Dunbrody Famine Ship Experience, an authentic reproduction of the ‘Dunbrody’, an 1840s emigrant vessel. A guided tour, led by costumed performers, provides a unique insight into the bravery and fortitude of the Irish people faced with the great famine.
Suir Valley Railway runs seasonally. For winter dates please enquire for alternative attractions.
Free time in Kilkenny and Smithwick’s Brewery Tour
A full day to explore the medieval city of Kilkenny, home to Kilkenny Castle and the imposing 13th century St. Canice’s Cathedral. After lunch we visit Smithwick’s brewery for a guided tour showing the production process for one of Ireland’s most popular beers. Returning to our hotel we call in at the Nicholas Mosse Pottery Mill to see the potters and decorators at work and perhaps buy locally-made souvenirs.
