Wine-d your way through the New Forest and Hampshire
On this tour based just outside Portsmouth we explore both the New Forest including Beaulieu and Hambledon Vineyard. First we visit Beaulieu, home of the National Motor Museum, and then enjoy a river cruise at neighbouring Buckler’s Hard. We also explore The Brickworks Museum where we discover all things bricks; next we are treated to a tour and tasting at England’s oldest vineyard. Whilst in Portsmouth, we stop at the D-Day Story to read accounts of the veterans who took part in this historical event. Take in the vistas of the Hampshire coastline to round up your short break to this part of southern England on the Spinnaker Tower.

Day 2
Beaulieu, the National Motor Museum and a River Cruise
Today, we visit Beaulieu and the National Motor Museum. After lunch we take a relaxing cruise on the Beaulieu River from the picturesque village of Buckler’s Hard. Here we explore the Maritime Museum and ‘Buckler’s Hard Story’ with its reconstructed 18th century cottage interiors.
Day 3
The Brickworks Museum and Hambledon Vineyard
This morning, we travel to the only steam driven brickworks left in the country. After a guided tour we explore the rest of the museum at leisure. Next we travel to Hambledon, England’s oldest vineyard. Our premium tour includes a walk through the historical vineyards, visit the state-of-the-art winery and underground cellars, finished by a tasting. (Hambledon has two metal spiral staircases.)
Day 4
The D-Day Story and Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth
Today we venture into Portsmouth.
After breakfast, we visit The D-Day Story, the only UK museum dedicated to telling the events of June 1944, a significant moment in history, which marked the beginning of the end of the Second World War. The museum includes access onboard Landing Craft Tank 7074, the last preserved LCT to take part in the Normandy campaign. Step on board and discover its remarkable history, from construction and role on D-Day carrying up to ten tanks across the channel, through to its post war role as a floating nightclub. Inside the museum, discover how D-Day was planned and how the critical decisions were made to make the operation a success. Told from the perspectives of those who were there, the museum includes objects, vehicles, interactives and video to bring the story to life. The finale of the visit is the stunning 83-metre Overlord Embroidery. Inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry, it was created to commemorate those who took part on D-Day. The museum also includes veterans’ personal accounts as they reflect on their wartime service.
In the afternoon, we drive to the Gunwharf Quays and walk a short way to the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth to take in the panoramic views. The lift will whisk you up to the viewing platform so there is no need for climbing up those stairs!
